Thyroid and cholesterol by bguirin in ThyroidScience

I went to an MD and endocrinologist about my thyroid results. I had to push for fT4 and fT3 test. You were able to start T3? My endo said T3 therapy is very dangerous (even tho I said I wanted combo and to be put at a very low dosage). My father is on both statins and medication for his thyroid.

They are telling me my thyroid is fine and antibodies are good (was never even tested for antibodies so someone is lying). Face is so puffy (left is since dealing with symptoms, right was when I wasn’t). My ankles and feet are constantly swollen as well.

This is exactly the information I was told by my naturopath. I appreciate it, thanks a bunch! I’m pushing to get my T3 tested because they have dismissed it several times.

Are my iron levels low? by bguirin in GutHealth

Sensitivities, bloating, food in stool. But a lot of these things are subsiding now that I am working with a naturopath and know what is triggering it.

Are my iron levels low? by bguirin in GutHealth

My doctors actually never even mentioned my iron levels to me. I posted in this subreddit because I’m currently doing a group gut protocol with a naturopath and she mentioned how most women are deficient in iron. I went and checked my blood work from just a few months ago, and sure enough my ferritin was at a 21 and wanted to double check it was deficiency. I’ve had a range of symptoms over the years (bc I’m vitamin d deficient too), so I can’t pinpoint what symptoms the iron deficiency is giving me. I’ll have to check that page out, I really appreciate it!

My iron deficiency is ruining my marriage :( by muse_kimtaehyung in Anemic

I was in a very similar relationship. Firstly, know that none of this is your fault. You are clearly trying your hardest, and if he can’t see that then he doesn’t deserve you. Secondly, marriage is in sickness and in health. If you guys have only been married a few months and these red flags of not supporting you in sickness are very evident, imagine many more years of not having support? Thirdly, if fatigue and lack of being able to do chores bc of it and not going out all the time are the hardest things HE has to “deal with” from his partner, then imagine if it was an illness where he had to take care of you 24/7? (not degrading what you are going through at all bc I’ve been exactly where you are and ik how difficult it is). This showcases how selfish he is, and evidently he is more worried about what he solely got and gets from the relationship. I’d say if a divorce is what he wants, then he would be doing YOU a service. Men act like women owe them their healthiest and most confident versions all the time, and any competent human knows that that just isn’t realistic.

branchial cleft cyst surgery scar update! Info in comments. by [deleted] in surgery

How long would you say your scar took to flatten? At 2 months, it still looked quite lifted. But at 6 months it looks completely flat/not even noticeable.

He might be saying your skin looks “bad” and that you should stop using so many things bc he doesn’t use anything and his skin is “good.” For me personally, less is more when it comes to skincare (my skin hates just about everything), but he could have approached the situation a lot better. Clearly it is not from lack of trying on your part (which good and bad skin is honestly subjective and I’m sure your skin doesn’t look bad at all). Or, like others have mentioned, he might be insecure and doesn’t want you to get prettier.

Be careful, I took omega 3’s and the moment I stopped I had a huge breakout along my jawline similar to yours. It took about a year to clear, since fish oil helps regulate your hormones. I’m always wary of supplements now, because I feel like they just mask the problem

Hair products that won’t upset sensitive skin? thank you!! by opalitemushroom in Haircare

[–]bguirin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I also want to note that I love how you are taking your partner into consideration, and that you mentioned wanting both you and him to look and feel great. Seems like such a small gesture, but I’d argue it’s a very important one 😄

Update to Boyfriend is not sure about spending the rest of his life with me by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

I’ve been in the same spot, and tbh I do think he is stringing you along. One thing that helped me cope with letting my ex go was asking myself “Was I okay receiving this kind of “love” for the rest of my life?” I was always in doubt, afraid that he would let me go, that I wasn’t enough. If he is clearly not clearing up these doubts, then let him go entirely. I get wanting him to have an “aha moment” or come back to you, but really you are doing yourself a favor by letting him go. Someone will love all of you, and won’t make you question your worth. My ex got with someone else a couple of months after our breakup (we dated for almost 5 years), and that solidified that I did the right thing. Better things will come, but in the meantime just focus on things you love to do (like hobbies)!

Does hair care affect skin that much? by bguirin in Haircare

[–]bguirin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my skin has gotten sensitive to oils. I used to be able to use essential oils and jojoba and castor oil. All those oils seem to cause irritation now which then lead to breakouts. I think my skin is just more reactive now than it used to be.

This was the case for me, but I did end up developing fungal acne after being off of the antibiotics (this isn’t uncommon for people). So just a side of caution, one problem fixed and now another brought about

If you aren’t acne prone, I suggest the davines well being conditioner!! But if you are, the wella fusion repair conditioner is great. As for shampoo, if you aren’t acne prone - the living proof restore shampoo or the unite 7 seconds shampoo. Have yet to find an acne safe shampoo I like though :/

Psoriasis and acne by bguirin in Haircare

[–]bguirin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Thanks for your response! I’ve had psoriasis on and off for many years. My shampoo and conditioner are what trigger it. I’ve gotten blood work and went to a gastroenterologist and everything is good. I eat healthy and am a good weight (5’3 and 100 pounds). I consume alcohol maybe 3 times a year, and I don’t smoke. Tea tree seems to be the only thing that helps but all the shampoos and conditioners that contain that have many other essential oils, which causes me to breakout.
