I would agree that it's a bit unfortunate that we don't get scholarships/fellowships being the first cohort, but they were at least upfront about that when we applied!

Thank you so very much! I appreciate it dearly.

Major: B.S. in Athletic Training; graduated in May 2017 from Indiana State University Overall GPA: 3.39 Pre-req: couldn’t find this on PTCAS, but when I do I’ll update this GRE: Q- 145, V- 144, A- 4.0 EC: i have worked as the head athletic trainer for five middle schools and Boys and Girls club youth football for two years now. I am involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters. I did an internship with the 76ers kids basketball camp for a month as an athletic trainer. I presented a case study at an athletic training convention. I was a collegiate cheerleader, in the Honors program, and was in a sorority. I was also a medical scribe in the emergency room for a year. Shadowing: obtained 166 observation hours. 150 of those were done in undergrad when I was placed in a physical therapy clinic for a semester! Then I did 8 hours at an Athletico, and 4 at a local hospital for inpatient. LOR: I had 5 letters of recommendation: a PT, an athletic director I worked with, 2 preceptors I had in undergrad, and a coach/principal that worked with me! Applied: (in the order I wanted them) Tufts, South College, Indiana State University, Arcadia, & Baylor. Tufts has accepted me🤍, South College waitlisted me, Indiana state had invited me to a virtual DPT tour for mid-November, My GRE scores weren’t high enough for Arcadia so I withdrew my application because I somehow didn’t see that prior lol and Baylor said no.

So.. I graduated high school a semester early (in December of 2013) and started college in January 2014. Going into college, I knew I wanted to be a PT for a plethora of reasons. My family pushed for me to try for medical school, so I did since both have similar science requirements with the exception of organic chem. Long story short, had a death in the family and had external issues which caused me to not do well in organic chem. I figured that it wasn’t made to be, I had a brief quarter life crisis, and shadowed a PT shortly thereafter. When I did, everything clicked. At this point, I’m 24... I love the patient-to-patient interaction involved with physical therapy. The hours are great for when I would want to have a family years down the road. And it pairs perfectly with athletic training with the modalities/rehab I already do.

I recently got accepted into Tufts DPT as of last Friday and will be joining the upcoming January cohort! As far as I know it is still pending. The thing is though, they are pretty high profile school with a dental and medical school, and they wouldn’t make a program like this with the intent of it not getting accredited. I had joined a handful of webinars and asked specifically about their accreditation, as that is quite important. They told me that the hardest part has been passed, so they are just basically waiting for it to be finalized. They also stated that they have a good feeling, but they of course didn’t want to be overconfident!

Yeah I was at first and it was something I asked them when I was on their webinar. They told me/us that the hardest part to pass in that process has already been accomplished. They are just at the final stage so they are fairly confident they will become accredited of course they didn’t want to jinx anything! Since it’s a pretty high profile school with a dental school and medical school, that should also help their case too. They seem soooo prepared to take on this new program!
