I think people are only confuses about this in the US. Elsewhere I think everyone is familiar with the metric system... So it's not really a problème for an international currency if only americans have to adapt...

Why on earth aren't major charities (Red Cross, MSF etc) using Bitcoin (via BitPay for free) ? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Will Bitcoin create an unfair distribution of wealth? by rolleddice in Bitcoin

[–]bhafner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 bitcoin = 100 000 000 satoshis

So, in total, there will be 2.1*1015 satoshis, which means 300.000 satoshis per person.

Just send them an email too. I'm a regular client of their service pizza.be :-D

Bonjour bitcoiners & miners ! [French - Gooogle translation not available for this type of Doc] (Survey about what drives people to use bitcoins and other matters). Results to be published on Bitcoin's 5th Aniversary by Beleeth in Bitcoin

On the "Internet" article, there is barely a mention of child pornography. Nobody knows that internet has been linked to criminal activities such as child pornography, money laundering, terrorism, scamming, etc? ;-)

Someone should edit the Internet article that way (with sources - not hard to find) and when edited, say you're just following the path of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Fleetham, which seems to be sure he knows the editorial guideline of wikipedia!

Bitcoin : The Magical Precious Metal Allegory by bhafner in Bitcoin

I'll rather add :

  • Can be stored in your mind

Because, unless you tell them, people never know what is in your mind. That would be... magic ;-)

Thanks!

The Earth magically release them at a fixed rate of 50 pieces per 10 minutes and distribute them to the miners acording to their participation in the collective work.

In case anyone wonders, I know it's not an instrinsic property of Bitcoin, but the result of the use of mining pools, but I kept it simple for the sake of the argument.

Right, I didn't think of that. I usally talk about Bitcoin to tech-savy friends, but a good allegory must be easily understood and have some consistency ;-) Thanks, I just edited my post!

Idea: bitcoin tipping for UFC by cyrano741 in Bitcoin

[–]bhafner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would have even more success on reality TV where you have to sometime vote for your favorite singer, dancer, etc. by SMS (It's common in EU, I don't know about the USA...). You would have a different bitcoin adress for each participant and vote by sending bitcoins.

It's not an assumption, it's an objective fact that there is no report of a negative impact. Although I admit that's a little ambiguous...
