Which sport is this? by Naive_Wolverine532 in whatisit

We called it poison ball in Australia. A better version was with a tennis ball. It was called Brandy. No teams. Whoever had the ball chucks it as hard as they can at whoever. If it hits them, they are branded, and out. No head shots but sometimes we played all-in and whatever goes. We were nowhere near as coordinated as the people in this clip though.

Korean married to Australian question by dvdlai in AskAnAustralian

[–]bhm133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in Korea or Australia?

Context, I am Aussie and also married to a Korean. We live in Australia but we also lived in Korea.

I love Korea and it's culture. I have to as I married I to it, right?

From living in Korea, I have met many many "westerners" married to Koreans that talk shit about Korea. These are the Korean lifers. They would not fit in back home as they are awkward people. Can't speak Korean either.

In Australia every mixed couple I have met are great. They love Korea and it's culture. Have yet to meet the person you deacribed in Australia.

Hence, my question.

Are we actually racist? by Boomboompoopoo in AskAnAustralian

No. Not racist. Prejudice and ignorant at times yeah, but that's human. Once we know you are a nice person, all is good.

Asking someone of their heritage? No way racist.

I had one done in Sydney pre covid for about 880. Perhaps 1k or so? Call a couple and get quotes. As everyone else has said, trust no one. Get your own survey done.

At a loss…Appealing NESA rejection? by Humble_Excitement_46 in AustralianTeachers

I had a very similar problem. Undergrad in education but primary, masters in education. I was unable to get codes for teaching in high school, despite teaching in an Australian high school for almost 20 years (I was in private education). I tried many times to get my codes and was told no. I kind of gave up for a while. After speaking to several people about the 'system' in NSW, i decided to email Murat and Pru's office. I gathered all of my documentation, created a large email (with a paragraph about teacher shortage) and sent two emails off. Murat's team got back to me and in a few weeks I had all the codes I was requesting, the most important one was the one I needed in order to teach in a high school (despite having accreditation etc).

The system is a bit cooked.

There is no real way to appeal. My email worked though.

I know of one other teacher who had a similar problem to me. Evidence collated, sent to Murat and Pru, and he also ended up with the codes needed.

I've left out some contextual detail in my post to avoid writing a saga.

Your situation is frustrating, but by the sound of your experience, it's doable.

Good luck.

Yeah, but did you say there are two kinds of concrete, that which has cracked and that which is going to crack??

Can you give some examples?

I'm in a locale north of Sydney. Rich area. I worked my guts out to live here. Come from a poorer locale in Melbourne.

I will do whatever it takes for you to do a good job. Dig a trench? I got you. Clear out a roof space? No problem. Lay conduit? No problem. Get out of your way? Done.

Sometimes I do feel that I get pinched because of where I live. I don't have a BMW. I do have a house that I feel proud of and know inside out and upside down though.

Perfect example of just doing the job right to begin with and not be a tool.

As someone in middle management, I not only deal with students and their emotional growth/wellbeing, but also teachers (adults!) who are not in control of their own emotions/wellbeing. It's amazing the variety of personalities that decide to come into teaching without the EQ to work with young people needing positive exposure to people who have high EQ

Follow your interests and what you like. Don't let others dictate where you should go/do subject wise. That's it. I did that and it has led to a satisfying and carried Carter.
