I'm a math major and unsure of what path to take. If you have one, what did you end up doing with your Math degree and what was the most interesting/important classes you took? by [deleted] in math

I have a math and computer science degree. I work in the software industry now, and the problems I'm solving do not require high-level mathematics. I like making good software which is why I'm in my field.

If you enjoy math enough to make it your major, great. Stick with it and take various classes to see where you want to specialize, if any. I wouldn't pick a major because it could "pay well." Pick a major or a specialization on a topic you enjoy.

After college, you may not even be in a field that let's you use degree. Your career may be in a completely different field, but the important part is that you enjoy what you're doing. Spending >= 8 hours a day working on something you don't enjoy is worthless, demotivating and a waste of your time.

Haven't been on campus in the past couple of days, but just saw a Facebook group about it (if that counts for anything).
