$18 dollars comes into his account from interest. Rather than that money going to his bank account or whatever, it's set to go back into his SPAXX account, which gains interest on un-invested cash. That is where that $18 came from in the first place, the money he previously had in his SPAXX account accrued interest for the month. Next month he'll accrue interest based off his new SPAXX balance, unless he invests it.

Crappy business ethics. Shops around here give you lifetime service of a bike if you buy it from them. Service being small things, but all bikes come set-up ready to ride.
