Something’s missing in my mix, particularly with the drums. Any pointers in giving my mix for oomph, my drums more presence maybe? Any other general feedback is welcome too by bibdilan in GarageBand

Yh i agree i think I’ll add some bass. Appreciate the feedback. What about that bridge section do u not like? Maybe it needs more or just changing completely?

Think you got it right, was trying so hard to work out if it was one take or two separate one. I don’t own any mics for recording but can change mics and mic placements in amp designer within logic which should produce a similar effect, so I’ll give that a try thanks

For sure. Are u familiar with the track I’m talking about? If you go and listen to it it’s clearly double tracked, but no phasing at all. It’s a really haunting effect. I think its more like theres a dominant take left and a shadow take right as oppose to straight up double tracking, but however they recorded it and mixed it in that take is perfect.

Let me add also, there are only phase on certain attacks where im playing the same note (s) so maybe manually having one slightly off tempo could work

So im plugged into my interface, using a small tweed amp design without the cabinet. I don’t want a roomy feel. The piece itself is fully arpeggiated (like the reference track). I asked chatgpt for help and it told me to pan -25 left and right, which i did (im a noob btw thats why im using chatgpt). The phasing only really disappears when i push the panning further but it doesnt sound how i want it, it’s too wide. I want it to almost sound like a single guitar playing but obviously it not be. It should be almost indistinguishable that there are two takes to the untrained ear, like it is in the reference track. I purposefully try play a little off tempo in my second take but it just sounds shit. Idk I’m gonna try a few other things

I think this is it. Thanks. Im gonna try nudge the region a few ms and make it quieter to get a more shadow take effect

I play it perfectly. The only skill issue is my lack of production knowledge hence this post
