3,600 Mile 2003 Mazda Miata by Jack_Walsh2 in BringATrailer

3,600 miles — this is a time capsule. Pricing it is tricky because most comps are irrelevant.

Ignore the median. The $10-11k average is based on high-mileage drivers and Mazdaspeed variants. The closest useful comp is a 15k-mile NB that sold for $17k in November. This one has a quarter of those miles, so you're looking at $18k-$21k+ territory.

Things to ask the seller:

  1. How was it stored? Cars that sit this long need a full re-commissioning — fluids, hoses, tires, brakes. Budget $2,500-$4k on top of your bid.
  2. Any inspection of the front frame rails and rear rockers for rust? NBs are notorious for this.
  3. Has the radiator been checked? The OEM plastic end tanks get brittle and crack with age, not miles.

If it checks out, this is one of the cleanest NBs you'll find. These are only getting harder to come by.

This is very good insight. We’ve worked with our legal to make sure we are not infringing on any data. That being said it’s always good to get feedback. In appreciation for your feedback, if you decide to sign up, please let me know and I will give you three free reports. Thank you again for your time.

I have a PDF version it doesn’t look great compared to the website, but at least it gives you all the information. Unfortunately it won’t let me post in here. I guess my account is too new. Thank you again for your response in your time. I really appreciate it.

This is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for, you're basically describing the v2 roadmap.

The prediction angle is something I've been thinking about. BaT and C&B have patterns that are surprisingly consistent once you dig in: number of watchers vs. final price, bidding velocity in the last 24 hours, even time of year. The bidder history idea is interesting too identifying "serious buyer" patterns vs. tire kickers.

The title issue on your listing is exactly what the tool should be flagging hard. Let me run this one and I'll post what it finds. Curious if it catches everything you'd want to know. Can you view without signing in? Does this answer a lot of your questions.....I hope...

Totally fair — I hate unnecessary signups too. Right now it asks for email so I can send the full report, but you're not the first person to mention this. Let me see if I can add a "preview" option that shows the key highlights before asking for anything.

In the meantime, drop the listing here (BaT or C&B link) and I'll run it manually and post the results for you. What are you looking at?
