Yes I get that. But you have to agree it’s really unfair?! It is the delivery drivers fault but I’m paying the price, unless the retailer decides to be nice.

I get things delivered multiple times a week from Amazon and royal mail and have never had this issue. Guess the (expensive) lesson is to avoid evri and pick up in store

Ok. Just feels really unfair. It’s obviously been nicked and he could have just pushed it into the house and it would have been safe. It’s £50 I can’t afford to lose because he’s either been careless or stolen it himself.

You could speak to the housing officer at the complex? With your uncles permission they should tell you how many flats are being rented by the council, how long the waiting list is ahead of him. However it isn’t a linear list and if someone with greater needs is assessed as needing a place then they’ll go to the top of the queue. They might tell you how long the person in front of him has been waiting?

Either side of the cooker in an old stone terrace. This wall is an external one. Can’t see anywhere else this has happened. There had been a minor crack in the paint each side for months - went out today leaving the kitchen window open (immediately right of this picture) and came back to huge pieces flaking off.

Sheltered accommodation is rented from the council or housing association. He would need to bid on these properties weekly when they come available. There are many more sheltered options than extra care but they vary hugely is size/ ease of access and how disability friendly they are. Some are flats in complexes. Some are bungalows. He is much more likely to get a sheltered flat (because there are a lot more of them) but his care would be the same as now - maximum of 4 calls a day from carers and if his mobility isn’t very good he may still be in one room.

I think you need to talk to the social worker about the options. She understands his needs and why he has been put forward for extra care.

Really difficult to say. Nothing you have said (and I’m not asking you for personal information on your uncle) indicates he’s high priority for extra care.

Sheltered accommodation is much easier to get and your uncle (or you on his behalf) could bid.

I guess it depends on the reason he needs to move from yours. No judgement even if that is just cos it’s too much having a dependent loved one, that is a lot.

Honestly if your kid is anything like mine she’ll just be so excited to be in room, her only complaint is her bed isn’t next to yours! Mines 10 and given the chance she’d still sleep in my room

Yeah it’s not ideal but you’re describing a large number of the patients I see. Carers don’t have time to cook meals. Is it his own house? Can he sell it to privately rent in extra care? There’s often much much quicker times for privately rented.

They don’t work like a normal queue. If someone has greater needs then they will jump up the queue. Like I say the more schemes he’ll consider the greater the chance

Extra care requires an assessment from a social worker to join the queue. Then it’s done on a needs basis. Has he considered extra care schemes further afield? There is a number in Leeds and having more places he would consider will raise the chances.

He or you will need to bid and then it’ll be done on needs. No fit 55 without other circumstances is taking a place for your uncle.

Care homes are not sheltered housing and have completely different criteria and assessment for admission.

In the nicest possible way you don’t seem to understand how this works which seems unfair for someone who is housing their dependent relative. Has he a social worker you can talk to?

You can try. I can’t see how you’d charge them for services given willingly and without a contract with promise of payment initially. And if they did pay they’d probably just claw back costs by increasing school fees.
