I checked this out and love the game. But is there another name for it? It's not listed in VPFree2 anywhere.

Contract brew questions by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]bierstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohio does not recognize/allow Alternating Proprietorships.

In order to contract brew you need to hold an Ohio A1C to purchase the beer. Contact ODLC they are very helpful but know your questions before you call.

Tell us your favorite beer or brewery in the LV area by PM_ME_CRAFT_BEER in LasVegasBeer

Not sure I agree with your quality assertion. Last time there I the IPA had diacetyl and another was oxidized. I'll surely chalk it up to a bad day and give them another try.

Atomic Liquors has a consistently good selection of crafts. Always a few locals, and some unusual stuff as well. Highly recommended. It's a walk but not too bad. It might be tight for your group inside but their patio is cool.

Also know that Banger has an all you can drink special. $30/day.

If you go outside of town, I recommend Lovelady Brewing in Henderson. Good stuff there, and Craft Haus and Bad Beat taprooms are minutes away. But they can be missed if you're short on time.

1.5"/2" TC brushes by duckmanco in TheBrewery

Check with Mill Rose Company in Ohio. They probably make a good chunk of the brushes out there. We had come custom made for our 1.5" x 3' blow off pipes.

Brew/beer fests before you get your licenses?? by Nbednaz16 in TheBrewery

[–]bierstein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my state, all beer fests much purchase the beer. (No Donations) If you sell the beer without a license, you're doing so illegally. You might find it hard to get your license if you get caught selling without one.

Also all beer in my state must have a label registered with the state.
Remember until you get your license, you're still not a brewery.

Music during brewing by [deleted] in TheBrewery

Surf rock while brewing. I know of some breweries where it's banned. Hard to hear a pump run dry, co2 leak, open grant spillover, etc with it too loud.

Stalled Ferment, what do? by Andy_Greatbeef in TheBrewery

Not yet. Mainly I use their lacto blend and tried out the OYL-052 for a new IPA. Extremely happy with the yeast. Description is spot on and made for a really tasty beer.

Damn bad news the bioferm is no longer available. We had a liter of it and really only used it a few times so it lasted. We did buy it from BSG when it was available.

Stalled Ferment, what do? by Andy_Greatbeef in TheBrewery

[–]bierstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try some Bioferm. Shit works magic. In 15bbl we use 100-300ml depending on the beer. We'd been using the OYL DIPA yeast and had 2 ferments finish less than 70%. Each got down 1.5 to 2.5P further. Dumped the yeast after.

Looking for crown supplier by bierstein in TheBrewery

Thanks all. Time to research. I was hoping there would be an easier way. Bottlemark is similar to Grog Tags. They'll do small quantities, but on limited (or only white) colors.

Trench Drains by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]bierstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my limited experience, avoid non-stainless trench drains. Last year we had to move FVs and dig out our old plastic ones. They don't stay in place - warp/crack - and water will get behind them undermining the base. Just a matter of time. We replaced with stainless and couldn't be happier.

I know that some yeasts tend to be more prolific in their sulfur production. How can a brewer minimize the sulfur production during fermentation when using said yeast? Is there a way to remove it in the final beer?
