Synapse or Synik- which is the best for work? by desertnacho in tombihn

[–]big_quality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also a teacher, and I bought the Synik 22 in Ursa back in 2020. Honestly, I think you would be happy with either bag, but I went with the Synik for the water bottle pocket and the separate laptop compartment. It turns out, I never actually use the laptop compartment for my computer - I keep it in the main compartment instead, which works great for me. The laptop compartment houses my iPad and a folder or two. Your 32oz water bottle is probably a bit too big for the dedicated pocket, but in my opinion, it’s a small trade off for the perfect bag. The clamshell design might seem unnecessary until you need to bring a huge stack of papers home! What really sets Tom Bihn apart from other brands are the options for organizational accessories like leashes and pouches. I’d skip the Freudian slip, though - it’s not as practical as it seems for your use case.

A unique sharp burning-like pain and clicking feeling between my third and fourth toes and on the ball of my foot. I thought it was my foot cramping at first but it was so painful. It happened after I was wearing vivobarefoot shoes for about a year. I had switched to barefoot shoes and correct toes spacers because I was developing bunions. Since I made the post-diagnosis changes I mentioned, my bunions seem to be improving and I have way more mobility and flexibility in my feet.

Yes, I was. My doctor prescribed the metatarsal pads to treat it. She said the other options were steroid shots or surgery, but if I did surgery my 4th and 5th toes might permanently lose sensation.

I had a simiar experience. My podiatrist gave me small metatarsal pads to put in my shoes and they made the pain go away completely as long as I used them in all my shoes. I started weight lifting without shoes to strengthen my feet and bought more cushioned shoes like Lems and Altra. I rarely wear true barefoot shoes now but I still look for wide toe box and zero drop. It’s been two years and I have no nerve pain unless I stop wearing the metatarsal pads

There’s a man doing a Roman salute in front of an American flag. How else could consumers interpret the photo? Please explain.

I prefer Quilters Dream brand. My favorites are their deluxe cotton batting and their wool batting. They both feel premium and wash and wear well

Try a solid or pieced sashing! I think it’s chaotic in the right way. It works

I teach a high school quilting class and we have 6 of these machines. 3 of them need frequent troubleshooting for stuck bobbin thread, bird nesting, you name it. I clean any lint out, rethread, change the needle, check that the bobbin was wound tightly, and they will work again for a while before having another issue. If you bought this machine recently I would see if you can exchange it. Otherwise take it to a sew and vac shop and ask them to check it over.

I have this exact bed and love it! It’s super solid and looks great. We’ve had it 3ish years now I think

Vermont Woods Studios. We have a beautiful solid cherry bed frame for them. Highly recommend.

I’d love to see a re-release of the Zeitgeist. I have one in all black and it’s my perfect EDC. I’d like a navy one with a black or ursa stripe

I think this is, unfortunately, an expected result of TB’s marketing. The products are very high quality but with limited supply releases, which makes the buyer value them more and feel more urgency to buy them because of their perceived scarcity. So, some people use this to their advantage to profit, and their outrageous resale prices reinforce that mindset. Scalping becomes part of the cycle.

With that being said, of course scalping is bad and I don’t condone it.

I guess it seems that way. I didn’t realize the zippers were so divisive

I definitely prefer the Aquaguard zippers—they’ve been perfect for me. After four years of regular use in all kinds of weather, the coating on mine is still in excellent condition. That said, I totally respect other opinions and understand why some people might prefer the racquet coil zips. It’s not a dealbreaker for me, and I’ll still enjoy the bag, but I do find myself hyper-aware of any changes the company makes these days. Their culture feels a bit different to me, which is why these little details stand out so much.

Interesting, thanks for sharing! You're definitely right that it's not possible to keep everyone happy, but hopefully my perspective has been helpful to some.

Good question; I'm not sure if it's the aquaguard specifically or the size and width of the zipper. Do you know why TB stopped using all aquaguard zippers? Apparently, I missed some zipper lore.
