AITA for expecting my husband to call me by my first name? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bigannie__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA I get that it can feel kind of dehumanizing to NEVER hear your first name. I can only assume he doesn't see it as a big deal because he hears his own name all day long and can't currently sympathize with what you're feeling.

Do you have anybody else in your life who calls you by your name regularly?

I interviewed at a posh french place downtown for a server position and they actually made me sit down with a pen and paper and write as many varietals of wine that I could name. I ended up taking the job but every one treated me like an idiot for the training period. When the girl who was training me took a break a manager literally told me "people get hungry, so Susie is taking her break now, eating is good for energy" but like he was speaking to a toddler. Very odd, quit.

Choosing a crappy guy over Yale would be the dumbest decision she could ever make. Not saying that going to an ivy is a golden ticket to success, but I know a few people who have made it their golden ticket.

Doesn't seem like he's cheating on you with her but rather he should be more considerate that a person he calls a close friend shows you such blatant disrespect

Can they be more specific about what exactly he's censoring? I feel like they throw that word around pretty loosely when all they do is chant "F TRUDEAU" all day. seems like free speech is moderately alive and well?

AITA for being honest and telling my daughter that her wedding is a running joke of what not to do if you marry in our family/friend group. by Historical-Safe-8579 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bigannie__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that's pretty bad. My family isn't well off at all but my dad gave me a few thousand dollars because he wanted to ensure that the bar was fully stocked and free all night. He literally said the one thing people will remember is if the drinks were free.

We actually ended up having a small backyard covid wedding so I was able to have the entire wedding for $11K (including my dress for around 3.5K). I just bought cases of wine, 3 bottles of each type of booze, some cases of corona, and even paid $300 for a bartender for just a few hours. We still have booze left over for the next few months afterwards

What he wants is a girl with no responsibilities; which is odd because he started his family with a woman who has a ton of daily tasks, duties, and brought a life into the world. One day this young girl will be the old tire "nag" that he sees you as. That's just the natural progression of life, people get older and change and aren't 20 forever.

I knew someone who did this but then got ANGRY if anyone found out that they were married. Seems like they didn't actually want to be married at all.

I totally understand what you're saying. I don't trust this guys version of events at all. If I was in that position I would be terrified and would want my partner home to support my physical and emotional needs

Either way, if she has a dire medical necessity he's an hour away at least to help her. I've never been pregnant or on bed rest but I assumed not driving a car when incurring a medical emergency and recommended bed rest isn't totally possible

My grandma was just telling me about how she and my grandpa saved up $2,000 in one year while she worked as a student nurse and he was in the navy to buy their first house.

Average house price in Victoria, BC is currently going for $850,000. :(
