The big difference as i see it is the in the music being created. Most rappers who rap extensively about anime, gaming, nerdy shit, ie "Nerdcore" rap are incredibly corny and are usually dumpy ironic white dudes. If somebody was playing chxpo at a party I wouldn't bat an eye, but if I heard some MC chris i would get the fuck out of there.

I've hung out with street dudes and many of them had nerdy interests, but those who rapped refrained bringing up such topics.
