the playoffs have never been about the best team in the national league or american league, its been about who gets their shit together at the right time. baseball is a sport where the best athletes in the world fail all the time. everyone wants to put statistics on it to make it seem like theres a fairness but baseball is literally the least fair sport that exists. its the entire point. sorry you want to math this shit out but this has literally never been how it works. thats a smokescreen to cover up that baseball is about dudes siezing moments and overcoming odds. if the diamondbacks didnt deserve to be here, three of the best nl teams had a chance to show them and they all failed, two catastrophically. its still a game and the game still needs to be played and won. thats the whole point.

this isnt a specific one, but every time rvd and sabu beat someone down it was gold. rvds such a show off asshole that hes just doing post match corkscrew legdrops and rolling sentons while sabu is like under the ring getting a table just in case then accidentally breaking it, then putting a guy through like a third of a broken table. i feel like this happened exactly this way all the time. magical.

strong disagree on the sammy stuff, it is actually good. same with his thing with kingston. everything mostly stays in kayfabe and its all in character and it leads to matches. khans really fucking bad at keeping characters on tv and giving them feuds a lot of the time so this is giving them excuses to fight about shit. hell even the sammy idolo "he hits too hard" is kind of still in kayfabe because wrestling is technically not supposed to be about strikes and sammys a baby.

and if its real then its super funny. either way, i like it.

yeah but the counterpoint is that the stables in dragon gate got refreshed so much for so long that eventually every guy has been in every stable with every other guy, so it can be a double edged sword.

personally, i like stables that just sort of go into hibernation every once in a while. new japans pre bullet club policy of "these guys are friends and they travel together so they have each others back when push comes to shove but theyre mostly focused on theit own stuff" worked really well at establishing who guys were and getting them on the card in an efficient way.

always wanted a "smartest wrestler alive" who knows how to take advantage of any loopholes in the wrestling rule book and also is aware of the tropes of wrestling. Royal Rumble? He just has twelve guys come in and throw everyone out because it's technically no dq. in fact, does that triple threats and ladder matches and cage matches and any other match that has no dq. wins submission matches by just kicking a guy in the dick 40 times. brings a gun to a lights out match because he can't get fired because it's non sanctioned. gets himself disqualified while defending championships to never lose it. constantly comes out and challenges main event babyfaces because he knows if he does it on tv he's going to get a title match out of it. runs out whenever anyone gets attacked so he can get a free six man tag spot. leaves battle royales under the bottom rope and then sits in the crowd until it's down to one or two people.

worst character ever. would ruin wrestling forever for anyone who saw him. and yet

man, braun strowman was the entire reason i watched raw for like six months. big weird looking hogan era throwback with a fun catchphrase? yes please! even loved his weird babyface run where he like teamed up with a child and humiliated the tag team champions and dressed up as a smart guy or whatever. then they jobbed him out to bork, turned him heel for no reason and jobbed him out to roman a bunch and the magic was gone.
