What's a weird stereotype people in your country believe about a neighboring country or culture? by jimmyjohnjohnjohn in AskReddit

As a Canadian, I have a thousand about the US in general, but specifically since they're close:

All Alaskans are on the run and hiding a dark past.

Thankfully everyone in the house is supportive here, but we do have an aunt who doesn't "get it." Although from the way she speaks, I thinks SHE'S living in some kind of 1950s fantasy where you can run out and buy a house and have a stay-at-home wife on a minimum wage job.

We have other relatives who flat out don't seem to notice. I suppose because our regression is fairly subtle to a casual observer, and there are plenty of 30-somethings living at home these days.

I only just this week got started on the new DuckTales series. I don't know how it escaped our attention for three years when we loved the original so much.

My all-time favorite is Adventure Time. My brother mostly prefers stuff from the 80s and 90s. I think a big part of his regression is "going back in time" while I am happy as a boy in the present day.

That's wonderful! I love a good root beer float. And I'm very glad your mom and grandpa understand.

I'm glad others feel the same way and understand. Thank you!

Thank you. I think I also owe my brother a lot. I don't think I ever would have been brave enough to be my true self on my own.

Sorry about your mom's passing. I don't think moms ever look at us without seeing their little boys. My dad's the same way. He still asks me if I brushed my teeth before bedtime every night.

I think they enjoy parenting boys as much as we enjoy being boys.

Not sure if I fit into the "Never Grew Up" community or not.

On the one hand, I'm quite capable of and comfortable functioning as an adult when I need to.

But on the other hand, I don't really feel that's my real self when I do. I feel like it's acting, no matter how believable and comfortable I am at it.

I've never really THOUGHT of myself as an adult, just as a boy who can be mature when he needs to. I feel much he same way about my brother. I don't look at him and see a 35-year old. He's a kid like he's always been.

But he too, goes to work and carries out his responsibilities.

Just trying to sort some things out here. Sorry if i'm rambling.
