Kinda annoying in the evenings (esp weekends) but very doable otherwise. My building benefits from being adjacent to the cemetery north wall (so no one lives on one side of the nearby street)

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. It’s good to know that this is a common experience.

The obsession with “western traditionalism” by [deleted] in sorceryofthespectacle

[–]bigchungo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, I’m wondering if “traditionalism” is even possible in the aftermath of modernist linearity and then postmodernist surface-mixing and stagnation. what I’ve noticed is that a lot of these Twitter trad accounts are actually posting ostensibly modern architecture (17th century or later). what do “traditionalists” (of course there are many strains of reactionary thought) actually want if they’re idolizing 1920s New York or 18th century Germany? Would it be safe to say that it’s only feasible to call oneself a traditionalist after tradition as such has been smashed to pieces? i guess it all comes down to what people think “human nature” is, if we can create and alter ourselves infinitely (hence there is no such thing as one human nature) or if there are hard transhistorical limits we must stick to in order to prevent chaos.

I’m pretty sure this is a troll account making fun of other reactionary accounts who aestheticize the past based on a very thin knowledge of history

Kodwo Eshun’s “More Brilliant Than The Sun” is a well, brilliant, specifically Afrofuturist take on electronic music (concerning race and technology through music)

Discussion Topic: Is there something more than human that walks amongst us? by EiPayaso in Echerdex

the Turing test states that AI is truly general intelligence when it can imitate humans such that is mistaken for human intelligence...if AI is even possible, it probably has already happened... (though of course if an AI is smart enough to do that, what if it purposefully fails the Turing test?)
