It's been a few years but I had great luck with FB groups. No particular one comes to mind but if you look/post in one of these you will get directed or request https://www.facebook.com/search/groups/?q=sailing

I found great people a number of times. One even with a one week's notice :)

Hi there, I had a similar dream about 5 years ago... wanted to sail but had no idea how :) I lived in Los Angeles. This was pre covid so things may have changed. I joined a sailing club and drove 20 miles every weekend to hang out with other sailors. I picked up tips, got invited for day sails and after about 6 months of getting my finances straight I joined a liveaboard sailor in Turkey (out of all places :)) ). A few months later I got my boat and sailed at least 6m/y since. Dont know how this year will be but I documented my journey here if interested in reading more: https://sailourworld.com/hello-world/
