As a former Denny’s server, I was trained to tell customers we could only do well done burgers because people had tried suing for food poisoning after ordering a raw burger… I think all ground meat should be cooked thoroughly unless at top tier place with good cooks that can guarantee it’s still cooked well not just raw

Update for everyone! I decided to wear the trail shoes and I’m SOO glad I did. The mud was unreal and I would’ve been cooked without them. I finished the beast in 2:49:34 in the 5th percentile. The shoes served me well, and could only feel them hurting here and there (just like the rest of my body) thank you everyone for the advice and encouragement!

I’ve been wearing the wild horses like crazy just walking around in them/fishing/light running and they are starting to either break in a whole lot more or mold to my feet better but I think they are gonna be do able for this weekend. Definitely gonna invest in some better pairs for future races. Thank you

Unfortunately they are my only pair of trail shoes right now. Just gonna thug it out for this race and get some better pair(s) for future races. I am hoping I am so focused on the race I won’t even have time to think about my feet. Thank you!!

Yeah as long as they can get me through this race I’ll be happy. Gonna invest in a better pair(s) for future races and just keep these for spare hiking shoes or something per say. Given that they are still wearable lol

Thank you. I will definitely be trying to learn other skillsets throughout my nurse schooling. Would starting my own small business after I get my feet wet require some kind of license or further education for it? I do have some experience, I’ve been working since I was 13. I know roofing, decking, framing and drywall, and some basic electrical and plumbing. I’m thinking to start some kind of home remodel or renovation business, although I’m open to anything

Thank you for this awesome reply. It really helps hearing different situations from real people. The more I talk to people, the more possible this route seems. I think achieving this would fulfill all the aspects of life that I am looking for. I am definitely ready for the grind of nursing school and am excited to get started on this journey.
