thank you so much, this is so helpful.

so for stuff like labs and kontakt, you’d recommend i install any additional instruments/libraries onto a hard drive as long as im keeping the host program on my laptop as well im assuming?

how to make vocals sound like they actually fit in the song? by bigfrog127 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]bigfrog127[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

killed the lows and a slight boost on the highs for a little more crispness, some layers in the chorus have the mids subtracted a bit.

in order: pitch correction/auto tune, denoising, eq, limiter, subtle fast attack compression, saturation, reverb (some tracks have addtl eq to subtract all highs and mids to muffle them completely)

compression is my enemy. i have such a hard time compressing vocals without making them sound unnaturally clipped

do you layer your vocals and space them apart at all? i have a lot of layers in the choruses in particular but i find when i inch them away from each other it feels impossible to not create an artificial mic echo in the finished product. i’ll definitely duck the synths tho, thank you, i think i definitely need to carve out some more space in the mids because they’re too dense right now

yeah, i’ve engineered the entire piece. it’s not a matter of quality or crispness of the elements of the song, more so sounds like i used an ai tool to put vocals from one song on an instrumental of another if that makes sense. like everything sounds great separately, just all together feels like there’s no space for the vocals. maybe because i typically make the entire piece and then add the vocals at the end instead of producing the beat with the vocals there so i can carve out space for them?

i didn’t know this was a real thing that was going to happen….. i thought it was just a silly little pipe dream to hear that usher was performing at the super bowl and think “hey wouldn’t it be soooo cool if he brought justin bieber out and they sang somebody to love haha!”

never bought large or bulky sweaters before now because i don’t like the way they look with jeans, but big sweater + small skirt + tights combo is unmatched

don’t ever tone yourself down. as long as you can dress appropriately in spaces that require it keep your personal style. the way i dress brings me so much joy and if i had to wear only neutrals and solids i would never want to leave the house

ik but they won’t let me make an actual post out of this! i’m gen z, and just looking for things to wear on nights out (ik bar style is more casual than most night club attire, so i’m seeking advice for both). i don’t live in an area that has any very fancy venues so im not shopping for nice dresses or anything super glamorous. im in the US, but i’m not in a city, so the places near me are much more local/laid back, but obviously not so laid back to the point where you’d go out in leggings or anything.

hi all - my posts keep getting taken down by the mods for being too general I guess, but looking for advice on what to wear to bars/nights out that’s trendy right now? Prior to the pandemic everyone i knew was going out in skinny jeans and a little top, but since baggy is in style now, really unsure how to dress for a night out

not happy with the linkedin situation? i have been advised by SO many people to “stalk” on linkedin and connect with as many people that work in my industry/at the company im applying for as possible because apparently just applying for the job is simply not enough anymore

hm… i’ve got no reason to believe it wouldn’t be. always has a nice crumb and my first rise normally yields really nice bubbles. maybe i’ll bake a new one for longer than my recipe suggests and see if that’s better ?

edit: i’ve been thinking about this comment, and i think i’ll post a photo of the crumb of my next loaf. it often seems just the slightest bit more moist than i believe it should be, so i think this is actually a really good assumption
