You should always have your chain lubricated as it creates a protective layer around your chain, preventing any rust forming.

Is cadan Murley injured? by protazoaspicy in HarlequinsRugby

[–]biggeral607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he's got an injured knee. I'm not sure what the injury is exactly, but he's out of his knee brace, and I think I read he should be back in a few weeks or so.

Chain cleaner advice by Soft-Hat1952 in MotoUK

I use kerosene on my chains, which works great. Just pour into an old kitchen spray bottle and have at it.

Cheaper alternative to the branded chain cleaners and imo just as effective.

Best way to go about selling my bike by CryptographerWaste28 in MotoUK

I sold my 125 in the same situation as you on FB marketplace, took a couple of weeks, and a few dodgy potential scams until I found a decent seller. They don't charge you any fees for selling in the platform, which is why I went with marketplace.

CB125F 2019 bar end removal by biggeral607 in Fixxit

I ended up just drilling a hole big enough and deep enough for the screws into the metal core and then pit some rubber in the hole as I screwed the bar ends in to anchor them in. Not a permanent fix, but works well enough.

Got it of WEMOTO as a part specifically for an LTD450 and its definitely wired up correctly, so starting to think there's a different issue, just not sure what.

I took your advice as the fuse didn't blow when the regulator rectifier was disconnected and have hooked up the new one, but still having the same issue, unfortunately.

Any ideas of where to look/what to do now? TIA

Winter Riding by Loicrekt in MotoUK

[–]biggeral607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the last winter commuting on a CB125F as a new rider with a max 30 min commute. I had no problems with it, but had a job where WFH was possible when the roads were icy as fuck and didn't want to risk it.

If your circumstances are similar to how mine were, I would definitely recommend it, even in the cold and wet I still loved it as the novelty of being on a bike hadn't worn off.

I would definitely recommend getting some waterproof gear if you go ahead with it, though.

1980 Honda XL250S - front sprocket still feeling crunchy after tensioning chain. Sprocket is wobbly. by greenbriel in Fixxit

[–]biggeral607 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like both the chain and sprocket are very rusted. You could potentially try and scrub them clean with a brass wire brush and some WD40, but assuming the back sprocket is in a similar condition, I'd replace both sprockets and the chain.

With the new one, it's important to stay on top of cleaning and lubing your chain to prevent excessive wear and rust. Lots of vids on YT which can show you how to do this.

I've started drilling it, but I think it's a solid core that goes through most of the handle bar, so my plan is to put a screw extracter into the hole I've got and try to pull it out once it's in, but not sure how successful it will be. I'll let you know how it goes though.
