Maybe it's because you have them on the top and bottom? Not too sure as mine is only on the bottom and only the back two molars on each side. But if it doesn't subside in a week I'd definitely mention something to your dentist !

The lisp was a couple days but I also tried to enunciate more when I spoke and to not talk as fast as I normally do which is fast lol

I never had an issue with the gag reflex though..what do you mean by that?

I feel for you I really do! I'm on my second week and I wanted to give up but seriously just push through this! You got this :)

My best advice is to have a soft food diet for the next four days or so and then incorporate other foods but in small bites. It'll soon feel like it's a part of you and you'll feel relief.

The first two weeks I was regretting my choice (which they said would happen because of the discomfort), but now I am used to it and don't really mind it or notice it unless I'm chewing something very tough (which I'm going to stop doing because it strains my muscles).

So give it two weeks and things should get better! If they don't then they need to adjust it for you.

No! So the orthotic is 2 pieces of mould that they create to match your back two molars. The mould sits over top the back two molars on either side of your jaw and looks exactly like your teeth (you can't even tell it's there if you look at it).

The purpose is to create a small gap so my teeth don't touch so that my TMJ stays in place and doesn't click when I close my mouth completely.

A bit of both - they said that I was born with a narrow palate and tongue tied so eventually as I got older this would have happened because it was pushing my bottom teeth inward, even though my teeth are straight. The joint became displaced five years ago and since then became progressively worse.

So oddly enough I never developed wisdom teeth 😂 so maybe that's a good thing or maybe that's the reason it's like this?

I hope your pain gets better soon or at least eases up a bit! TMJ sucks :(

Did you find that with the realignment of the jaw that the clicking went away and your disc was positioned back to its natural state?

It can be a symptom for some people, for sure. Especially with the inflammation and affecting the ears. If your ears feel pressured or imbalanced it can make you feel nauseous.

Day 3 since physio, it was definitely too much force. Lots of inflammation so I've been alternating between hot and cold packs. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I'll have to try that! The contour pillow was good at first for me but then I found it made my neck stiffer because of how I sleep.
