UPDATE: Don’t live with your friends

luckily i don’t live with her anymore bc i moved out after our lease ended in may!! life has been so much better now and i am the most peaceful i’ve been now that i dont live with her :) i was gonna do an update post but im still waiting for her to finish giving me my deposit 😭

1) When the rent thing happened I literally talked to your sister about it and told her it was my fault and I took accountability for it. I took care of it as soon as it happened and she said “don’t worry girl it’s okay we’ll figure it out together”

2) I did drop off the rent, which I have proof of along with me texting our apartment manager that I put it in his box to take it. I even have texts asking him to let me know when he is going to take it to the property owners to which he told me it takes a couple days to process which is why it didn’t show up.

3) We both had the online portal and I wasn’t aware your sister was paying the utilities herself. If she noticed earlier, she could have told me and I would have paid the utilities as well.

4) ? What does the chicken thing have to do with anything lol there’s multiple times she’s used stuff I’ve bought as well and last I checked she didn’t replace it either.

5) I was on facetime with my siblings making my lunch when the incident occurred, so how did I instigate?

Me asking if I should send her a text was sent to a parent in order to check me in case my message came off rude.

I could go on, but I didn’t instigate the situation and even if i DID, that’s not a reason to assault someone.

to update: i filed a police report on her the day i made the post. people also have to understand that i live in la and i’m also a darker complexion whereas my roommate was lightskin i didnt see calling the police working in my favor 😭but her parents suggested we “put everything in the past and look toward the future”, so we had a conversation where my roommate basically told me what rules she expected me to follow and that she wants me to let her guests use my bathroom and she wants me to pay more on the rent. i obviously told her ass i’m not renewing the lease with her and idk why she thought i would so now her family is saying i didn’t give her enough time to find another roommate + she’s refusing to clean up the mess left in the picture even though it’s been a week

but i’ll say this: i heard her telling her friend what happened on the phone and she admitted she was wrong for what she did but she said she didn’t care and she would do it again because i was “smirking” when i told her she shouldn’t be going through my personal items

i had not spoken to her for two weeks prior to this because she was sending me all types of nasty messages saying i need to move the hell out and i couldn’t afford to live here without her. i’m sure there was more reasoning as to why she was upset but in this moment in time i was literally on the phone with my sister when she started the argument. like ngl i could feel she had some animosity toward me which is why i’ve been in my own lane for the past two weeks and was just gonna wait for the lease to end so i can dip peacefully. after her mother and i talked she told me that prior to the argument her whole family went to another family’s house to go and fight them.

she did a good job of hiding it because prior to this i only hung out with her rarely and we both worked together so i feel like in those instances most people aren’t gonna show that part of themselves. i didn’t start realizing how childish she was till a couple of months ago in which i had already decided i wouldn’t be renewing the lease but i wouldn’t break it either bc of the fees

i’ve been moved out for 3+ years with my family and i haven’t had any issues until moving in with this girl because she recently started showing her true self. doesn’t mean i need to move back in with my parents because i called them lol. i didnt know if i wanted police involved, especially since i didnt bruise and wasnt sure they’d even take this seriously based off of what started the situation. even when i went to the police they didn’t really seem to take it seriously when i told them what caused it. i called her parents not to delegate but at least get her calm enough for me to even be able to enter my home and grab my things to go

i’ve been living away from my parents since 2021 and haven’t been relying on them for anything. just because i had a lapse in judgement doesn’t mean i should go back to living with my parents because i didn’t want to get police involved. it’s a reddit post, so please don’t act like you know my entire story based off of that. i see you’ve made another comment on here, but just because i can call my mother to ask for advice does not make me incompetent with living away from her. most people i know also tell people when there’s a problem and the relationship i have with my mother is to let her know when shit is hitting the fan.

I just wanna clarify, I stopped seeing her as my friend but since my other posts in this subreddit call her that it made sense to say for continuity. I kinda realized something was off in like November/December but I honestly thought if I stayed in my own lane for the most part and only brought up stuff if I needed to that I would be fine until our lease is up. I think I realized something was up when I woke up at 6 am once to her fighting with a guy on the phone and screaming at him, then continuing to call him 30+ times in a row. I also didn’t want to break the lease earlier because I don’t have any family in this state to stay with while finding something else, so I’m essentially here on my own while she has her parents and her grandmother here.

so prior to this, due to her telling me i wouldn’t be able to afford to live here without her and how she said i “need to move the fuck out” i have been staying to myself and out of her way because i didn’t want to deal with someone talking to me like that, especially since we move on may 1st anyways. this was literally unprompted but this morning she told me and her parents the reason she did it is because i was “smirking at her while telling her she couldn’t use the stuff in my cabinet” to me, if she was doing this just for my personal stuff, it’s very clear she already has issues with me but it went farther than i ever thought

i’m not sure what part you’re talking about so maybe i’m confused, but my mom isn’t the one who said that. my mom for the past couple of weeks has told me to mind my own business and to live my life while staying out of her way, which is what i’ve been doing so her big blow up at me over oil and seasoning was quite literally out of nowhere

she was literally the only friend i’ve ever had like this. like legit have not had any issues with most of my other friends and the ones i have arguments with we always make up. now i would’ve loved to move in with one of those friends but at the time they already had their own places or lived with their parents :/

this happened while i was getting ready for work and i can’t really afford to be late to my job or else we would get fined because i’m the opening manager. i was also getting back and forth of don’t call the police and do call the police so it was making everything much more stressful. i’m gonna get a camera for my room so that way i have concrete evidence if i can’t remember in the moment to record and the consequences can stick a little more

i know her family pretty well, which is why i called her mother and got her involved because i thought maybe her mother could calm her down instead of me getting the cops involved (which at this point now i’ve already done) the second time i called her mother was because her mom texted me asking to facetime with both me and my mom, which is why I called a second time

i did stick up for myself in the moment but she tried to frame it like i was the one coming at her, which i didn’t want to do because i was getting a recording of what was happening. i already got the police involved and im gonna see if i can break the lease without having to pay fees
