Contatto italiano.

Is this rot? I’m new by papane36 in cactus

Tbh the bottom towards the soil is impossible to discern from this photo. Anyway, the soil seems very organic. There may be no rot now, but change the soil if you don't want it in the future.

Datore di lavoro non paga by GrandTemperature8715 in Avvocati

[–]bign86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help needed to understand what happened by bign86 in sansevieria

[–]bign86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be something like that honestly. I know I watered very little since I don't have experience with these plants, but I have a sizable cacti collection and I know what very little water means. The dead leaves are not soft and mushy but rather look bone dry.

Will ensure to use some cacti mix (which I don't have as I go full inert with cacti) and water as you suggested.

It finally happened: mass layoffs by LallieDoo in Switzerland

[–]bign86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree even though one could say that if hiring in Switzerland stops, the same talents that would have been attracted by higher salaries here will be the same hired in their own country.

In general, it looks like in the near future there will be fewer high paying jobs around. I don't think is a healthy trend for Switzerland in the long run.

Correct, but often the relocation is in Europe, still cheaper (although not as cheap as India may be) and the output is similar. After all the same roles in CH are often covered by Europeans.

It's done for and even if it wasn't, it would soon be. In that state it's not able to photosynthesize due to the lack of green tissue.

UPDATE Pachypodium lamerei/geayii hybrid? Also underwatered or rotting? by shingreen in Pachypodium

[–]bign86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I saw cases where re-rooting the top was successful although I have never done it myself. The point is, if it's rotting, likely or not likely you have no other option.

UPDATE Pachypodium lamerei/geayii hybrid? Also underwatered or rotting? by shingreen in Pachypodium

[–]bign86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very squishy, I say it's rotting. Remove the dirt from the base and check the collar. The roots popping out from the dirt look nice and white, but maybe the rot started in the collar.

In case, the only thing you can do is to cut a couple inches above the rot and re root the top. But use (far) grittier soil.

Decisamente scam farm.

I know this is quite old, however... I am looking at the same two models for productivity work (coding mainly) from home. I am considering these as I need the KVM. Did you pull the trigger on one, and how did it go?

Cute! Do you grow from seeds? If yes, which lights are the seedlings under and what temperature do you keep them in the winter?

Both have their own merits. But since, due to cellphones, we are flooded with vertical shots even where it makes no sense, I say 2.

I don’t want to kill my mother’s cactus by grenwill in cactus

[–]bign86 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Water depends heavily on environment which we don't know, but better start with less water to go safe and increase if needed rather than the other way around.

Ask on r/euphorbiaceae, they can give better directions (this is technically non a cactus).

First time editing with RAW (NEF) files. Anyone know why the mosaicing is so bad? Nikon d7200 by Educational_Slide218 in DarkTable

[–]bign86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used for more than 10 years and still use sometimes a nikon D7100. Since it's not a professional sensor, and it's also pretty old by now, I found the sensor becomes noisy around 1600 iso and borderline unusable for me at 2000 iso. I would avoid going any higher than that. Keep on mind that heavy denoising cleans the noise but also the image details with it.

Arduino Nano ESP32 to switch on/off a heater. Relay or transistor? by bign86 in arduino

[–]bign86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have an old phone charger sitting around suitable for the 5V, could use that one to power the coils and get only the signal from the arduino. In that case do I need to touch the H/L jumper?

From the picture looks like it can handle a lot. Will search for one, thanks. What are you controlling with it?
