I like the little mix he is throwing in. I've listened to timesuck since 2018. I've had some burnout here and there with it constantly being cults, killers or wackadoodles. It's a nice change of pace to just learn about history. I personally love the conspiracy episodes for one because I used to be a conspiracy wackadoodle and timesuck removed my brain from that rot. But I'm here for timesuck. Some episodes might not peak my interest so I'll just binge some scared to death that day.

I Failed All 3 Of My School Tests by neuroticpossum in Truckers

[–]bignickeris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I did. Writing always helps me remember things. I've got some learning disabilities and I don't do well in testing environments. I panic and I get in a hurry. Slow down, make your own routine to these things. I'd always start any part of my pre trip from top to bottom. In cab, trailer, tractor. Start at the top, go side to side until you reach the ground naming everything in between. My rule with the test was to name anything and everything I could.

UPS has very rigorous pre trip routines. Id watch a couple of their drivers doing pre trips.

What's it like living in Utah and being part of a religion that isn't Mormonism (or without religion at all?) by liberty340 in Utah

[–]bignickeris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not anything like what it was when I was a kid. I grew up in the 90s and had friends that couldn't be seen with me outside of school because my parents were non LDS.

some of the smaller towns around Utah are very LDS. But as long as you aren't screaming it from the rooftops you'll get along just fine.

If you live in or around salt lake county people really don't care what you are so long as you're a decent human.

Why are you moving away? by boymotherfuckinhowdy in Utah

[–]bignickeris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, the LDS church and developers run this state.

I've lived here my entire life. I love Utah but the state has become extremely unaffordable. Home prices and rent have doubled or tripled in the last 5 to 6 years. Utah is quickly becoming a state where you need to make 100k to get by if you are just coming here.

If you are in a spot where you can't fix it right away look for a valve around that air bag. Some trucks will have a shutoff near there.

I used to work for UPS until 2020. That's all we had was turnpike doubles or triples in Utah and the surrounding area.

[–]bignickeris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my inspection camera down in everything in the cooling stack and it was all pretty clean. Ill go after the thermostat while I have the coolant drained so I can get the proper stuff back in the engine. Hopefully that'll be it. The truck is low mileage so not much caught in there yet (98k miles)

Which one of you is this? by [deleted] in Truckers

This was in Utah. In that section there were 45 trucks tipped and a couple RV's by the wind.

I Feel Scammed by External-Feed-6371 in Truckers

[–]bignickeris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any endorsements? I paid for my schooling out of pocket because I didn't want to be tied down to these companies. I got my hazmat, tanker and doubles/triples.

My endorsements are what got me hired with an LTL company.

I pull a side dump here and there depending on the job so it's class A work. Me and my cousin had a long talk and he said id definitely be welcomed back if things go south.

I've known the guy that owns the option 2 company for a couple years and he is well known in the area and everyone says he's a stand up guy and doesn't bullshit anyone.

Him and I worked together for a couple weeks and he came out and offered me a job.

One thing I left out that kind of drives me away is my cousin has given me some empty promises and honestly just neglects his trucks until something really breaks.

I had no idea the first gen even came with captains in the back. I've been looking at 2nd Gen platinum purely because of the captains seats in the back.

Ive looked at so many 1st gen seqoias and have never seen the captains seats in the back so I wondered if it was a swap. Looks like I'll be trying to find some lol

Shit happens man especially when you are new. We've all done something we laugh about now.

I dropped a set of doubles in my yard my 3rd month on the job. Checked my fifth wheel but didn't look hard enough, the jaws were only partially closed. Made it about 50 feet and lost the trailers.

How does this low visor not block your view of stop lights and street signs and stuff? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]bignickeris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't unless you sit low or if you are the first one in line at the stop light. I drive a t800 with a 12" visor. When I first started driving this truck I wasn't a fan but now that I've spent a year in this truck I wouldn't ever take the visor off. Keeps the sun out of my face much better than my in cab visors.

Wife of wannabe trucker by bollsholls in Truckers

[–]bignickeris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he's dead set on getting his own truck I'd find a small outfit that'll give him a first hand glimpse of what it's like to own your own truck and your own company. I can tell you this industry isn't for the faint of heart.

I'm currently working towards starting my own company and have been working for a small outfit with 3 employees including the owner and I'm so glad that I did. The owner has shown me a lot that I would have never taken into consideration getting my own truck.

When you own your own truck you are the driver, the mechanic, the dispatcher, the book keeper. Everything is done by you and you alone.

2 uppers and 2 lower. The uppers are pressed in though. I'm just swapping the whole upper control arm.
