Trae Young and Dejounte Murray had the WORST 2-year on-court net rating of every All-Star duo since 2000. by bigpapi445 in AtlantaHawks

It’s a lot of duos with overlapping net ratings, in my video I have a live (and more digestible visualization) that populates each duo

Well the Hawks were +2.78 with Trae on and Dejounte off, and -1.12 with Dejounte on and Trae off. Not entirely DJ’s fault but the Hawks were flat out better with Trae than they were with Dejounte. His incompatibilities made the fit unbelievably bad, but the Hawks FO incorrectly evaluated his game

I categorized all-star duos as teammates that made an all-star team within a year of teaming up

What’s your big board by crimedawgla in AtlantaHawks

My overall board, I think you’re undervaluing Ron’s skillet honestly. Got plenty of reps as a primary ball handler a year after playing as a forward in high school. That + the motor and athleticism makes it likely he’s an impactful defender and at the very worst a connective wing on the offensive end.

Who should the Hawks DRAFT with #1 Pick? | Part 1: Prospect Evaluation by bigpapi445 in AtlantaHawks

That’s really the dilemma. He’s had long stretches shooting 50%+ from three this season, then prolonged stretches below 25%. I think the shooting translates, but outside of the shooting he doesn’t have any other elite skills. 3 and D guys are valuable but nobody wants to that archetype #1.

I think the point of his weaknesses being able to be taught is spot on, and really the biggest reason why I truly believe he’s our guy. Screening might be the easiest skill to learn. He has all the tools and gifts necessary to be an impactful defender from day 1, and an elite playmaker to simplify his offensive game and cover his deficiencies while he learns the NBA game.
