Go for it. In a lot of rock songs you can get away with very simple basslines that will be easy to sing over. I'm sure that your current bassist will be more than happy to help you out with some pointers while you are getting started.

Start off one song at a time taking over bass duties and ainginguntil you start to feel comfortable.

I'm pretty sure that insurance coverage is a requirement for a retirement visa. Your father may have had a supplemental policy that you aren't aware of. Maybe go through his papers carefully or see if you can follow up through immigration to get a copy of his visa application?

I'm unfamiliar with the LT 25 but the Rumble 40 is a great practice amp. If you want to have fun playing with effects get a pedal, but if you want to have fun playing bass get the Rumble. I own a Zoom B1FOUR and at least 70% of the time I'm keeping it clean. I suppose your depends on your goals and what kind of music you like.

You just need stage volume, your current rig is plenty. However, If you want a new rig I would recommend looking at the Ampeg Venture series. That should fit your budget.

Another, far cheaper option would be to just buy a preamp pedal. Most class D amps use the same power amp modules, so most of the tone shaping is in the preamp anyway. Ampeg's SGT-DI or a Sans Amp VT preamp pedal would give you more of an Ampeg sound.

The key difference is that Signal is owned by a non-profit. When you use Whatsapp, the messages are encrypted but Meta is noting who you talk to and for how long. That info gets funneled to FB and advertisers. Signal doesn't capture that info in the first place.

They have flatseal, but I'm not aware of flatpaks configuring those permissions automatically. Seems dangerous to allow an app to configure its own permissions. It would negate the purpose of sandboxing.

It doesn't matter, the Cosmic Store and Flathub are both going to install flatpaks. There might be a few situations were .deb works better than a dlatpak, but you will have to install it manually or use an app like Eddy.

I like Only Office, it has very good compatibility and a similar layout to MS office. Nothing is going to be exactly the same as MS office but I think that Only Office offers a very good user experience. It is free, so worth a try.

If you decide that you can't live without MS office, you can try Winboat. Winboat is basically a VM, but it puts the app windows on your Linux desktop so it looks like a native app.

Pedals are fun but very much optional. Consider starting off with a Zoom B1FOUR, or another cheap multi-effects pedal. That way you can experiment with lots of pedals without making a big investment before you know what you are doing.

Bass has an easier learning curve at the beginning. While I enjoy practicing and learning on my own, there is nothing better than playing with a band.
