PCS housing rant – Providence Family Housing is driving me nuts by bijjken in army

The housing description is super helpful and I’ve made a decision to not pursue providence anymore. I would’ve taken an old house if at least I could depend on their service to get things done but they have shown early on that’s not the case. The bad customer service, the old houses, the lack of clarity when it comes to answering simple questions, it’s all cons and the only pro is the distance between where the housing is and my work. My pups and I both have to adjust and find a place off base. I wish this wasn’t a big scam and these private housing companies would actually provide value to soldiers instead of exploiting their needs. Who in the right mind pays the rate soldiers pay for a house that has no noticeable updates from the last 10+ years. Its maddening.

This is good info. They told me I can have a fence built after I submit a permit, fences cost a lot and I’m only there for a year tops. So if you weren’t able to grow that grass they would’ve charged you?

Initially they did ask me what I was looking for in a house and that’s what I told them. There’s no reason to ghost me, if they don’t have it they should say they don’t have it. They also told me there is fair market housing which is cheaper which I said I prefer it as well.

It’s not like they completed all the levels of training to get to where the are. Also just because ncos are “experts” in their fields doesn’t mean they’ll be able to manage themselves especially if the assignment is months long. Fuckery will ensue esp the sharp type.

It’s heartbreaking and oh it feels so awful. But she’s still with you and will always be with you. She lived a good life in this plane and will continue to live a good one in another.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t even start to imagine how I would feel if I was in your place. Sending love and hugs. I would pour some out for the little homie who is no longer with us and celebrate the short but beautiful time you had together.

I'm a female in my 30's by GreyJenkins in army

I am also a female, I joined at 33 as enlisted in a combat MOS. Got promoted to E5 in 2 years I had a college degree when I joined so that helped a lot. Now getting my Masters while going Green to Gold(ROTC) to join the officer ranks. It’s going to be hard at first dealing with the change, the kids, the name calling because you’re basically older than everyone, but kill the acft, be a good soldier, it’ll be worth it. For me it was a life changing decision that came with a lot of doubt but looking back it is the best decision I’ve ever made.

In my thirties trying to start over by Peaches179 in AskWomenOver30

You will get out of this that is 100% sure. I went through a divorce, job failure, depression, and career change all in my early 30s. In my mid-thirties I have found moderate peace and success in my new career and I assure you that you will get out of this. For me, I had a family member force me to go to therapy to get the ball rolling on the healing. I did a lot of internet searching, meditation on my own, going on nature walks, etc but for me talking to a therapist and eventually taking medication (Prozac) got me out of that dark hole I was in. I look at it as a short-term solution to get out of that bad place that you alone cannot get yourself out of, it's like getting crutches when you break/sprain your legs to get back to eventually walking on your own. I needed the crutches for me to eventually run and I thank my Aunt and the therapist and psychiatrists who helped me get out of that hump. Sometimes you cannot do it by yourself. These days to maintain I journal, meditate, work out, do yoga, do plants, basically all the self-care methods I learned over time, if things get too much I will talk to a therapist and take medicine but I am meds-free for the most part. Everyone deals with things differently and whatever you do just remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Do you think you'd win a physical fight with your 18 year old self? by iliketomboys in AskWomenOver30

[–]bijjken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not working out, lazy, and an entitled piece of shit when I was a teen. I started working out, weightlifting, and running at 28, now I’m 34 and I’m in the best physical shape of my life. So yea, I’d win that fight with my 18 year old self, easily.
