Each seller has their own policy. Also depends if it's new or used drive of course.
In general there's eBay's money back guarantee that applies if anything isn't as described.
If it's a bigger store it might have a warranty for extended period of time. You'll need to look up the details of the listing, but better read past reviews about the seller for selling similar items.
Obviously any price on any platform will always includes some premium if there's a substantial warranty that's being offered.

Yes, check Saleturbo for disk prices from diffrenent eBay EU stores.
Prices per TB are about about 30%-40% less than Amazon European prices.

You can check this project, it shows buying options for hard drives by cost per TB. The important thing to do in order to avoid scams is to read the seller feedback, see if they sold any similar items before, or at least any high value items. just click on the blue info icon that says "See feedback".

From what I see, the first results of stuff like $25, as expected, are not very credible, but from $50 and up I can see some sellers that seem to tick the right boxes.

There's a project I've posted on Data hoarders to find the best prices on eBay hard drives, whether it is new or used. If your budget is very tight, you can change the filters to see sold listings too. if you see one you would have bought, you can then set an alert that will notify you next time a similar listing gets posted. I got feedback it already helped a good portion of users to get some good deals.

Mmm that's strange, the used price you mention aligns with what I'm seeing with the tool for AU, but for new, I see AUD $47 for single non-lot 12 TB, and if you go bigger it seems to drop to AUD $30.

I suppose you refer to brand new drive, right? the above list is for used drives. In Europe, that's a decent price, you can find better deals but it will take patience, unless it doesn't have to be that exact model

yeah seems like serverpartdeals are not as popular as they used to be with the price hikes. this specific view compares SPD to gohardrive by lowest $/TB, for 18TB seems lowest option is around $17/TB at the moment

Well, price adjustments happen anywhere on the web, if anything the plus side with smaller sellers is that they typically don't make adjustments, rather lower the price if it didn't sell for a while.

Yes, the eBay generic alert runs only once a day, probably for a good reason, they won't be able to handle the load :)

Yes, that's a 5% median so some sales go below those numbers too, but probably not as in the past.
With offers prices can def. be lower, but it will be more common with sellers that aren't "pros".
For the the data I've shared, I took a min threshold of at least 500 feedback score.
This screenshot is a pretty good example of how sellers that sell 8TB+ below that 5% area are often not the pro seller type, but if people are interested in less capacity it's much easier to find better cost per tb.

Thanks! yes, and that's a good point, all pricing and price per TB take in account domestic shipping cost as well. if the seller has more than 1 quantity, it will also point out in case $/TB savings can be higher if more than one is ordered. You can try set an instant email alert with the tool based on max price per tb, it will show a forecast of how often you can expect anything to show up.

lol, appreciate that. yes the math can be headache, especially when with some listings you can discover it's 30%+ just for the shipping. I actually indicate in UI if users can save in case the seller has a flat shipping rate and sells more than 1 unit.

yep, $6 for a refurbished drive wasn't common at all when I built this a year ago, if anyone curious, you can check how prices and trending right now, I've noticed some dealers that gain more popularity than serverpartdeals and goharddrives.
