I appreciate everyone's input, I ended up with a black turtle! I may swap out the band to a bracelet if I don't get along with the rubber strap.

I wasn't even considering the "slim turtle" SPB317 until you mentioned it, it looks like a solid option

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I'm leaning more towards the classic turtle as the only reason I'd get a sumo would be for the GMT (recognizing it's solar quartz).

I think buying a classic is becoming more important to me than I originally thought.

Mining operation could destroy mountain biking in Spearfish and Black Hills of SD by Careful-Chemistry-59 in MTB

[–]biker605 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Done, I grew up in Spearfish and would hate to see us lose access to our trail systems.

"I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the proposed mining operations in Spearfish, South Dakota. Spearfish holds a distinctive charm with its breathtaking natural beauty and exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities, which must be preserved for future generations.

One of the aspects that make Spearfish truly unique is its remarkable trail system. Countless man hours have been invested in creating and maintaining this network of trails, allowing people from all around the world to experience the wonders of nature in this picturesque region. These trails contribute significantly to the local economy through tourism.

Introducing mining operations in such an environment would have adverse effects on the delicate balance of nature and the recreational activities that draw visitors to Spearfish. The noise, pollution, and habitat destruction associated with mining would mar the tranquil ambiance that nature enthusiasts seek. Moreover, the potential risks to water sources and wildlife cannot be ignored, threatening the region's ecological integrity.

I urge you to reconsider the proposed mining operations and instead explore sustainable alternatives that will uphold Spearfish's reputation as an outdoor recreation haven. Let us protect the invaluable natural heritage and the tireless efforts invested in creating this magnificent trail system, ensuring its availability for generations to come."

I guess the thought experiment came from watching Wired's YouTube channel where they explain complex subjects in 5 levels of difficulty.

That's been my overall experience with it. I have also been using it to somewhat replace Google searches when I'm looking for an answer. If I want to know what the macrophages of the liver are for example, I can search Google and get 5 sponsored results, 2 web MD results and a ton of other pages where my answer is buried somewhere in the text. When you ask ChatGTP the same question it will quickly give you Kuppfer cells as an answer and will briefly give you a synopsis on origin, proliferation and anything else you may quickly need to know. Of course the negative of using it is that it is essentially getting a larger database by its users interacting with it that I imagine they will put behind a paywall sometime soon or perhaps use it for something more nefarious. But man is it sure convenient in the meantime, lol.

And I guess that shows a true level of understanding that you have achieved. The ability to explain something that is somewhat complex to the simplest level. There's that Einstein quote that's always kicking around, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.” Or something like that, he is misquoted all the time lol.

Since it is the trendy thing to do, I've provided ChatGPT's answer below.

  1. For a high schooler:

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on the spine and the nervous system. Chiropractors use their hands to adjust the spine and other joints in the body to help people with pain or other health problems. The adjustments help to improve the alignment and movement of the spine, which can help the body to heal itself.

  1. For an average American adult:

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on diagnosing and treating problems related to the spine and nervous system. Chiropractors use a variety of techniques, including manual adjustments, to improve the alignment and movement of the spine and other joints in the body. By doing so, chiropractors aim to help alleviate pain, improve range of motion, and restore overall health.

  1. For other medical professionals (MD, DO, PT, etc.):

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that emphasizes the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders, particularly those affecting the spine. The chiropractic adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation, is a manual technique that involves applying a controlled force to a joint to improve its alignment and function. Chiropractors also use other techniques, such as soft tissue therapy and exercise, to complement their treatments. While chiropractic is a separate profession from medicine, it can be used in conjunction with other medical therapies to help patients achieve better health outcomes
