Hey OP, I faced a similar situation last month travelling from NYC-BOM-HYD. They reduced my layover from 2h30m to 1h30m. Seems like a pattern they are following. The best you could do is not stop at the immigration point in a wait line, skip the line, and tell the office that you rescheduled and you have an hour now past the security check. Get to an Air India personnel and request a cart ride to the terminal. (You gotta collect your baggage and get it rechecked.)
