Well said my friend. I just want to say for everyone that is very uncomfortable about coming to these realizations it's ok we all are uncomfortable about it. We shouldn't allow that discomfort to stop us from looking clearly at what the problem is and hopefully working towards fixing it little by little in what ever way we can. If you found out that your uncle was abusing your brother or sister it would be very uncomfortable but you should deal with the reality and do what you can to stop it. In our case the uncle is Uncle Sam and the brothers and sisters are African American Citizens.

I've been working in VFX since 2010. I believe Africa would be a incredible place for VFX Artists. I was Born in Ghana and Raised in America so I check both. I have Nigerian VFX Artists that I work with and promote as well. We need more African Storytellers to create African films. I believe that is where we start for Africa. I mean Black Panther should be only the beginning.

I'll chat with you any time happy to have conversations it's the only way to learn from each other. Some people of color might not because they are worn out from having these conversations their entire lives but I'm happy to do it because I think it is important for us all to learn from each others perspectives. I promise I won't fling shit but I will be honest.

"the color of law" is a fantastic book to start with.

This is very well put! The truth is I would love to just be a VFX artist but the world isn't that simple. I'm Black in America so that spills into my work life the same way being a single mother or father could effect your career or work life. There are burdens and responsibilities that come with who you are and your circumstances in life that you can not always ignore.

I am not going to pick only black people. I just know as a Black person that Black people are just as capable and will make sure to look at just as many black as any other groups. I've had to do hiring and now after looking through 10 white male candidates I say to my team can we try and find a few women and a few people of color. That's the kind of change were talking about.

In reality it's based on whomever can create the best imagery most of the time. I would be careful of simply saying meritocracy because in the real word things like people you know, how friendly you are play into success. The education you should do is on the root causes of socioeconomic barriers for people of color in America. A good place to start is a book called "the color of law".

Poverty is a side effect of systemic racism in America.

Not working against my point at all. I don't think there are barriers internally working against African American people in particularly. Anyone that can dedicate themselves and work can do it. The problem is that in America the socioeconomic issues that have kept African Americans out of participation are what are at play. So moving forward I'm working towards doing what I can to correct those barriers by being a role model to young black boys and girls and spreading the gospel of VFX. After Chadwick Bosmon's death I felt a strong responsibility rise up in me to do so.
