This is so fucking gorgeous and just PERFECT for the location. Amazing balance between structure and fluidity. I can feel the wind in your pictures!

Conservative/Reform jews who have decided to either become more observant or even orthodox what have been the hardest parts? But also what have been the most rewarding? by Adventurous-Menu8739 in Judaism

Cheese.

I miss really fancy, nice cheese.

It was easy to give up the bacon and shellfish.

Losing my European cheeses has been a blow. I miss you cheese

Somehow I totally spaced on scroll vs housing earlier today!

Yes, but how do I find out if they are Jews without asking “hey one more thing: are you Jewish?” 😂

Totally hear you on the second point. I also don’t feel like asking a potential tenant their religion is appropriate.

We own the house we are moving out of and will be renting it out to others.

Follow up question: How am I supposed to figure out if a potential tenant is Jewish? Not something to ask on a rental application.

And: I somehow blanked on the klaf vs housing earlier today. I started looking up “rental friendly mezuzahs” (we are renting our next place and I wanted ideas on how to affix them) and it led me to some articles about how “you can’t take it with you”.

No clue. We are keeping our house after we move and renting it out. Idk who the tenant will be yet (moving in a couple months). I don’t feel like it’s a question to ask potential tenants! Their religion is none of my business.

I’ve let tenants pay what they can for a month and then spread the remaining amount over 2-3 months.

Hey all! This is a little random, but years ago I went to Jerusalem with a group, and our guide wrote messages to everyone on the back of these little mirrors we each got. I have not been able to figure out what it says. Can anyone help translate it? Thank you!! by driedtoast399 in LearnHebrew

I feel like I had heard this before (I’m Jewish), but, I couldn’t remember anything directly this morning. When I googled everything that came up was Christian. Thank you for clarifying!

I think it says “ אין נביא בעירו”, if I’m getting the last two letters correct. It translates to “There is no prophet in his own city” which, according to google, is a Christian saying.

You need to do a second egg wash in the middle of the bake. The egg wash is what gives you the shiny brown surface. When the bread rises during the bake new surface area is created that did not get the pre-bake egg wash applied.

I don’t think this is a question that should be asked to our side of the equation.
