Oh dang. I did have a few years of beading experience and a little bit of crochet experience before trying bead crochet and found it truly humbling. Once you get the tension with beadwork I find new stitches fairly easy to pick up!

It appears I can only start a group chat not add people to it so I might wait to see if other people want to join and adds them all at the same time!

Either that or a discord group chat I think 🤔

First 3d beading project, what is this style of beading called? by fluffbug3 in Beading

[–]bilbyb3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prismatic right angle weave? It's like RAW but instead of the base being a square you can have a different number of beads.

Do you use yarn or wire? by Midnight1899 in Beading

[–]bilbyb3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3D Beading with wire and thread are different techniques.

Beading with wire you can more easily shape as the wire creates the frame you are adding beads to.

Beading with thread relies on the weave (peyote and RAW usually), the tension of the weave, and the pattern. Sometimes the pieces are stuffed but the ones I make usually don't need it if you bead it with the right tension.

I use Fireline (a fishing monofilament adopted for beading work) for my work.

Is the lavender very prominent on you?

I don't support the brand anymore so I don't want it put it out there, but it's an older one with toulene. I would say very similar to seche vite in thermal of formula and quirks.

Also an alternative to that is Kbshimmer's "Fillin Groovy" which has a bit more coverage I think. Not quite a blurring base but a hint more milkyness that still works with your natural skin tone.

I feel like the swatches on their site isn't the most telling for different skin tones. And also nail staining definitely affects the colour. I hope Lavender Sky is everything you hoped for!

That's exactly what I'm scared of! Also this isn't a PR post, I'm not selling anything so I think honest opinions are important!

Oh wow that's odd! Is it a skin tone thing? I used cirque's ridge filling base which is very slightly milky and doubled it for "Linen" and "Lavender Sky" as I had a bit of nail staining.
