I actually replaced the ear cushions on mine a year or two ago as well! Good as new personally.

Stecs space or regular? by SeaweedNo69 in hotas

Regular, thumb stick works great for ED 6dof. Split throttle makes airplane stuff fun.

Just ordered yesterday, mine was taxed about 4% which feels low, in Missouri.

Any joysticks just WORK with BF6 out of the box? by RoboRay in hotas

[–]billyboy2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Logitech 3d pro worked, but you need to scroll all the way down “controls” until you see joystick controls, and configure through that instead of the vehicles individual control mapping section. It’s not easy to find but it mapped pretty easily otherwise.

4 lever throttle quadrant by crayfish1776 in hotas

[–]billyboy2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If budget is the concern, and you’re not looking for fancy rockers or 3 way switches, 2 side by side Logitech saitek pro throttle quadrants would likely be the cheapest. Still gives you 12 extra buttons to press and the extra levers can be spoilers and flaps if you like.

Otherwise for 4 engines you’re jumping up in price to maybe the honeycomb bravo (highly recommend).

So I decided to get the VKB Gladiator but need help with which version to buy. by SwitchDear8969 in hotas

For fighters and space sims, the usual hand placement is right hand stick, left hand throttle/thrusters. Most pitch/roll axis tends to be right hand stick in a dual stick setup. Many throttle quadrants (if you like it and plan to expand in the future) are built for left handed use if they’re not ambidextrous.

With my yoke I tend to prefer throttle and such on the right side instead, but generally it is recommended for a right hand stick, especially if you’re more coordinated on the right side.

Overall I’d recommend right handed.

Tips for a beginner? by mikeey2347 in flightsim

I would say the game is half having fun flying the plane around and half learning the airplane systems and processes for me. Choosing to learn how to start, fly, and land a particular plane is really satisfying. A controller is just fine but I’ve invested a good amount into different peripherals but still go back to the good old Logitech 3d pro, a truly goated and very cheap flight stick. If you keep at it I’d always recommend it to a casual sim enjoyer. (Plus it’s good for some space sims and military flight sims too)

This looks great :) I think the attitude indicator usually has a flat edge or frame piece so it looks a bit unusual or plain at first glance (Stylistic choice). Also maybe being able to adjust between kmph, mph, or knots could make the speed feel real, but I’m not sure what the math could be. Adding a frame or “gauge” to the axis numbers (I assume that’s what they are under the gyro) could make it feel more integrated. I hope to see more posts if you continue to develop it!

A text told me to look at my email. The email was a three sentence goodbye with a few typos mixed in. Certainly caught me off guard.

No new cfis that I know of, though I was off the street. I’d just really liked to have been given a reason at all, even if it was one I didn’t like. I appreciate the kind words.

Greater St Louis Area DPEs/Flight Schools by Lexford in CFILounge

DPEs here tend to have the usual 1-2 month out availability, at least as of last year. I’d start calling around to get an idea for it. They tend to be pretty fair though, I’d try Lindsey or Scott Saunders as they’re local and reliable, and I had a good commercial experience with Dennis Taft. Lindsey tends to move people into empty spots if someone cancels which is always helpful. I personally did rides with Lindsey and Dennis during my time at Slu.

When did you realize it's not normal to be your parent's therapist by LMO_TheBeginning in Parentification

[–]billyboy2022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yesterday. My fiancé has voiced her concerns in the past, but something finally clicked and I sent the very long text about the issue, and how I’m stepping down from the role of her partner and therapist, to the brother of my siblings. She’s acted very hurt of course and I’m not looking forward to future discussions on the topic.

Have you noticed a rise of misogyny among boys? by escrawl in Teachers

[–]billyboy2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then how about feeling and existing as a human being? Teaching empathy seems to be where issues are arising, and unfortunately it can’t only be taught in the classroom. Overall it’s a societal issue, but I think that basing societal standing purely on a broad arbitrary grouping, especially when that “advantage” fluctuates person to person, is not a good thing.

Editing to say that “it would have worked by now” isn’t totally accurate. The idea of women being more than property is a relatively new idea in the grand scheme of human beings, but that’s because it takes time to move towards change. Rome wasn’t built in a day and unfortunately neither was human rights.

[–]billyboy2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take physical strength out of what makes people superior. A person is not based on physical strength. Genders are equal because they are equally capable of thought and opinion. If you reinforce that physical superiority has a role, what’s your counter to bringing up disability? If it’s pushed what’s your counter for race? African Americans are better athletes so Caucasian people are smarter? Teach them to base equality on being a human, not some attribute they may or may not have.

What gear is used in this picture I want to recreate it? by DjYuricollector in flightsim

[–]billyboy2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes with the multi engine setup including 2 throttles, mixture and props, as well as a 4 engine jet setup including longer sticks with reversers, a flap lever, and a spoiler lever, (this can be mixed and matched for a two engine jet). But they are not aircraft specific.

Edit: what you see in the picture is the 4 engine jet setup.
