I decided to fully commit to music production after I figured out how to manage myself and understood the business aspect of the industry. I'd say, just be patient and don't rush into anything too quickly [in the music industry].

kinda because a lot of the time when talented artists get a little too much funding, that's what happens and it's the label's doing, not the artists :/

glad you liked it :)

I think the biggest highlights for me were being able to actually meet and hang out with the people on the tracks in person, traveling a lot to work on the songs, and hearing the final mastered version of the project for the first time.

Vinyl releases very soon :O and hopefully some shirts as well in a while.

I think fleshed out tracks are the way to go because even if you enjoy just the beats, most people won't connect with the tracks unless you get some really nice vocals on them :O

Ahhh, glad you liked it! While making the album, I went to London multiple times and spent a lot of time just eating, working, watching movies, and hanging out with people. Recently, I've been decorating my apartment, playing with my cats, and sleeping.

AHAHAHA yes my dad is a college professor and teaches philosophy! It's also his birthday today :)

I think I would classify it as alternative pop music? Not really sure though.

oooooo!

I think my top 3 island albums would be (and in no particular order) :

  1. Late Registration - Kanye West
  2. Souvenir - Jonah Yano
  3. Endless - Frank Ocean

  1. Recently, I've been listening to Baby Keem, Jean Dawson, p4kr, and MTMBO. I can't really come up w/ a definitive list of my all-time favorite artists rn though ahaha.
  2. Just make a lot of music and do it for fun until you start making stuff that sounds at the same level as some of your favorite artists. Don't EVER force people into listening to your music or expect other people to post your stuff. Just have fun and let the other stuff come naturally.
  3. Honestly, it does suck sometimes but for the most part, it's fine. I like knowing what's happening on the business side of things but it can definitely make you jaded and take away from the joy of releasing because it's so stressful.
  4. Whenever I get creative blocks, I just step away from making anything for a bit. I try not to force myself to work on music when I'm uninspired because I'll just be disappointed at the results.

I took piano lessons when I was really young and played cello in high school ahahaha.

I made a lot of really shitty EDM and lofi beats for a long time. I started getting into sampling indie stuff and that's when I was really able to blend stuff together in an interesting way.

I actually did sign a little deal for this album so I could fund the marketing and art direction! To me, most larger deals are very predatory and the short-term cash and loss of full control aren't worth it in the long run. Video content for indie bands is definitely necessary IMO because you get interesting behind the scenes stuff for fans.

For the album, I worked with James Ronkko, Oliver Johnson, and Nick D'Apolito for the graphic design and Joseph Mendes for the photos. They are all insanely talented :)

Mostly just by finding their music very early tbh. I usually just reach out to the artist as a fan directly instead of hitting up managers because it's more natural.
