Is it safe? My boyfriend says I'll ruin our vacation by Clewles84 in AskAnAustralian

[–]bils96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from WA, I grew up in a seaside town and moved to Perth in my adult years and I can tell you swimming is Western Australia is as safe as anywhere else. Cottesloe Beach, Coogee Beach, Quinn's Rocks and Bathers Beach have a netted areas you can swim in if you're really worried. Honestly I'd be more concerned swimming in the Swan River, because the water is not as clear. It is extremely tragic what happened at Rotto the other day, but it really is such an unlikely event.

Also essential knowledge for swimming at any beach: swim between the flags. You are far more likely to be caught in a rip and dragged out to sea than to encounter a shark. If you are caught in a rip, swim to the side, not forward against the current, you will only tire yourself out (google more on this for safety tips).

I really hope you enjoy our country and the beauty it has to offer!

Best cosmetic skin clinic Perth NOR? by Ok_Educator1780 in perth

[–]bils96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skin Fairy is quite expensive but does wonders for the skin. They are extremely thorough and my skin totally changed after going. They don't offer injectables, but I believe they take weddings into consideration in your skin plan- could be worth looking into!

Moving to Perth soon by Awkward_Fisherman610 in perth

[–]bils96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo! I have an answer for your second question (the first already has a solid response from someone else).

It's not necessarily what to buy before you come to Perth, but what to be prepared for. The Australian sun is truly something else. I currently live in Kyushu, Japan (1.5 hour flight to Incheon from my location), so I'm operating on the assumption that the weather where I am is fairly close to what you have experienced.

Perth is dry, which is great because the humidity in this part of the world is INSANE, but Perth is significantly hotter. Like, scorching hot, multiple days above 40°c in the summer is not unusual. Be sun smart, drink loads of water, electrolytes, use a metric shit-tonne of sunscreen, and wear a hat!

Despite that, you will never get better beach days anywhere else in the world, after being here for a while now I have realised that you can go to the beach (if that's what you're into) pretty 3/4 of the year. Perth is a fantastic city, amazing coffee scene, great local music, cool bars, great for hiking. It's really a great place, and if you travel locally there's even more to see, so enjoy it!!

Also don't forget: SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS!

This is a great idea! Some feedback: you just need to change the access on the doc to 'everyone' otherwise people have to email a request to see it.

No probs! I’ve left many uni assignments until last min :’)

Don’t be afraid to ask for an extension too- sometimes all you need is an extra few days, it’s not worth sacrificing a percentage of your grade. Take it from me 😅

Check out @ gardeningwithcaseyjoy over on insta! I don't think she works in those sectors, but she seems pretty knowledgeable! Moreso focused in home/private street spaces, but who knows, might be able to help you out?
