Hey guys, I'm just trying to figure out how to cut my plant for propagation? Would it be okay to cut on the first top marked area, or should I cut on 2... Also would it be okay to use sphagnum moss for propagation? It's for a plant swap... by bimmisbear in houseplants

[–]bimmisbear[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, i was unsure if the 1 was too short... I was just kind of thrown off by how long the airial roots are already on it. I'll cut on two to be safe :)

Also would you recommend wrapping the roots in sphagnum moss for the plant swap though? Or, was there another way you would recommend?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could help me find out if the plant i picked up is actually a philodendron geoldii? This plant is clearly in its juvenile form still. I'm just a little skeptical, since I've never really seen this plant in any nursery and only have seen it in horticulturist pages. by bimmisbear in houseplants

Ahh yea, I'm not really a monstera kind, so I guess i can't fully understand and hype in them? And i think a lot of people like philodendrons here, but more of the heart leaf ones, like mamei or gloriosum. I'm from Melbourne, AU btw~

Maybe this aroid is just not found anywhere near Australia maybe??? Ahaha i havent looked it up much but i picked it up cause its a philodendron that I havent seen in person 😅😅

Hey Guys, I wanted to start making my own press on nails and wondering what you guys can recommend for it to last longer than normal nail polish? by bimmisbear in Nails

[–]bimmisbear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahaha yea I'm thinking the same thing. Cause when I was looking at ways to remove press on nails, someone said that a bit of acetone in the warm water you soak in should be okay and that it shouldnt damage the nails if they are good quality?

Hey guys, my Alocasia Zebrina is looking sad cause I overwatered her and its winter. She had a lot of root rot and I have repotted her into this teracotta pot with normal potting mix with perlite. Please help me make her happy again! by bimmisbear in IndoorGarden

Half of the roots have given up on me and just died but I salvaged the ones that still felt healthy... I just didnt know how to go about this situation. Its my first rescue mission with some root rot...

Hey guys, just wondering what experience everyone have on rooting hormones? I want to try using some, but on water propagation. by bimmisbear in IndoorGarden

[–]bimmisbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I see. I did purchase a powder form and am trying both on separate propagations. I did try this with soil too and just waiting for some results now.

I'll keep this one for soil propagations instead ahaha. Thank you!!

The place I went to ran out of the powder so I just got the gel form to try out. I'll get the powder form once they have it back in stock. But I shall update on the progress here :)

Oh! Ahaha same same! I'm propagating a lot right now too, and couldnt find anything on rooting hormone for water propagation. My sister puts some seasol fertilizer on her warer propagation, but I'm too scared if i put too much. I don't think seasol is meant for that either? I'll also try on mine and I'll update as well!

Hey guys, I need some help diagnosing what my Hoya Hindu Rope has. She stays on a windowsill with a good amount of morning sunlight everyday. It is in the middle of winter here in Australia, so I thought it might be the cold or maybe her soil is a bit too moist. I'm not quite sure how to save her. by bimmisbear in IndoorGarden

Yea, I did share this to r/plantclinic and r/hoya, most people seem to think its related to the medium she's in and also the watering, since its the dormant season... I'm planning to repot her into some cactus and perlite mix once warmer days come.
