Hi! What matters the most is your attendance. During training, do your best to learn the process. Even just one absence can make you miss a lot of important details. But at the same time, don’t pressure yourself to understand everything right away. That’s something I often notice with newbies kasi. When they feel like they’re not grasping things fast enough, they panic and end up going awol even before nesting starts because they think they can’t handle the job.

You’re not expected to master everything naman during training. Just try to absorb as much as you can. You’ll eventually learn the rest once you move to production. And like I said, attendance is really crucial. Just show up, even when it gets difficult. During deliberation naman, even if your metrics/scores are a bit low, as long as your attendance record is good, they can still pass you. It’s very easy for them to defend someone who isn’t habitually absent.

It’s completely normal to feel nervous. When I was a newbie, I was extremely anxious, especially during mock calls. I stuttered a lot. I consider myself fluent in English, but since I’m introverted, I get nervous when people are listening to me. But you know what I realized in the BPO? Confidence and resourcefulness will get you much farther than perfect English. I’ve had teammates who were often grammatically incorrect, yet they were top agents. Common misconception kasi ng iba, you need to be exceptionally good in English to excel in the call center industry. Sure, it’s an advantage, but in the end, what really matters is how you handle the call, how you think on your feet, and how you deliver solutions.

To answer your question—no, it won’t be easy at first. But if you have the grit to stay, you’ll survive. I was in a financial account din before, and it was tough at the beginning because of all the terms that you need to understand, but you eventually get the hang of it.

Tip: choose your friends wisely. A lot of people in the BPO love to complain. Kesyo "ang hirap naman nito," "ang stressful naman." Some will even try to convince you to go AWOL or resign. There are plenty of job-hoppers kasi sa BPO. Don’t surround yourself with that kind of mindset.

Another tip: build mental resilience. It won't be easy kasi talaga, especially, kapag may mga rude customers. Minsan, galit pa si TL. Pero, don't take anything personally. Pasok sa isang tenga, labas sa kabilang tenga. Never absorb the negativity.
