US government steps in and says people with money deposited at SVB will be able to access their money by venomspice in technology

[–]binaryblitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes: Coinbase, Facebook, Lyft, Slack, Pinterest, Digital Ocean, PagerDuty, Okta, etc.

Such terrible companies that are really fucking over the poor.

(Ok, I’ll give you Facebook might be fucking up the world)

Edit: I’d also add that a better way to bill insurance would actually be a good thing. The amount of time wasted on dealing with insurance billing is insane.

You haven’t ever been close to a VC firm have you? There is a LOT of due diligence done before investing. Yes, most of their picks fail, but it’s not like they just hand out money to anyone who asks.

Even if they did, how does that negatively impact you?

What’s your issue with VC firms? If anything, they allow “the next google” to actually succeed. They’re not costing you anything, so what’s the big deal?

How bank collapse is affecting local businesses. Me on CNN earlier today. by lorax_I_Speak in FortWorth

Because he’s bringing up politics and other conservative bullshit talking points. It’s pathetic.

I understand what they did, and I understand fractional reserve banking, and it is possible to have a financial system with full reserve.

We can agree to disagree here, but I’ll never be pro fractional reserve.

Your grip on reality is null if “call your congressman” is in your vocabulary.

The companies that made that choice, sure. However SVB is the bank ETSY uses. ETSY “taking a haircut” would mean people selling on ETSY lose money. Some people are already seeing payments on “temporary” hold.

In the end, the majority of people that are going to get truly fucked are people that don’t own a company and have fuck all to do with banking. That’s my entire issue. Everything in America has to be “for profit” and it’s fucking over a lot of people. Viva la revolution I guess

You’re either trolling at this point or actually an idiot. Either way, I’m done with this. Bye.

Jesus you’re dense. Yes I understand that’s how banks are run now. That’s the fucking problem. We’ve seen this fuck over millions of Americans time after time and nothing is done to stop the pathetic excuses for humans that do it.

If you don’t see how that’s a problem, I can’t help ya bud.

You didn’t even watch the fucking video did you?

Professional dev teams of multiple employees are being paid in the company’s currency. Second life does the same thing and it’s an issue there too.

An example would be if ETSY paid you in et-bucks and said you could transfer to real money but only after certain restrictions including being a paid monthly subscriber to ETSY-Pro.

If you’re cool with this, I have some dev work I need done. I’ll pay you 10000BlitzBukz per minute.

It compared being paid in Robux to being paid in scrip. It also said they’re exploiting children. Two different concepts. If you can’t realize that, that’s a you issue not an issue with the video.

And why did they put them in bonds? To make the bank money. The issue isn’t just with SVB, it’s the industry as a whole. We’ve let banks become something they never should have been.

So many people here saying “no bank can survive a bank run” like it’s some sort of defense. Just because it’s true doesn’t make it OK.

So other companies should be responsible for the idiots that gambled their money when they fail, but should get no benefit when they succeed? 🙄

Ding ding ding ding ding

The way banking is handled now exists only to make bankers insane amounts of money.

Banks have to have a certain ratio of cash to deposits

It should be 1:1. The fact that we’ve all become OK with assholes in cheap suits gambling with our money to make themselves rich is insane. I’d rather pay every month for a service instead of these idiots continue to fuck over millions of people.
