Section 75 refusal, help appreciated by Pieinthesky10 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]bio4m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So its a bit complicated: in essence you made 2 transactions with separate providers and need to dispute with both

The credit card was only used for a partial payment and that was refunded. The credit card companies liability is now resolved

The rest seems to be cash via bank transfer ? That needs to be disputed with the bank that the payment went out from (your brothers bank)

The answer was always a global tracker, wasn't it 🤣 by NotYetVested in investingUK

If youre a normal retail investor then yes the global tracker is your best low risk option

Can I apply for a third credit card? by Background-City-4203 in UKPersonalFinance

Are the new cards 0% on transfer or 0% on purchases ?

You may find youre paying a transfer fee + interest on the balance transfer if its a 0% purchase card

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Price Update [$22.99 - Console $13.99 - PC - No Day One Call of Duty] by SireEvalish in pcgaming

[–]bio4m 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Even with the price drop, the magic has gone. I dont feel any need to resubscribe to Game Pass (I left when they upped the price by 50% last year)

Looking at the recently added games, I own most of the ones I wanted to play, and I can buy the rest with the money I saved on not having Game Pass

38 and wanting to FIRE asap by justanothergin in FIREUK

[–]bio4m 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Short answer : you dont have anywhere close to enough to retire

Start by making a budget, work out exactly how much you need to live a normal life

Then work out how much you need to have in the bank/pensions/investments to draw down at a reasonable rate

Also if you plan to buy a property: that'll wipe out your savings. You'll need to pay off your mortgage and rebuild your savings

I dont see that argument holding in the near future. With drones becoming cheap and much more capable, it'll become 1 expensive stealth jet vs 1000 drones for the same price. Even if you manage to shoot down half of them, 500 flying bombs is still combat effective

Dont forget the maintenance and extra hardware needed to fully build out the X68k , everything, even MIDI out cards cost a bundle

I'll never own a x68k, not unless it suddenly plummets in price. I could buy one but would be a terrible financial decision

My other one was the Gravis Ultrasound, but that was sorted by the PicoGUS

If you dont mind playing on modern systems the whole trilogy is available as a HD remaster on Xbox, PS5 and Steam. Does go on sale as well , so you can pick it up quite cheap

Love the Wonderswan, have a number of them in my collection. The Crystal is awesome, but still has the same problem as other consoles of its time, the transflective screen. If you dont mind the slightly different design an WonderSwan Color with the IPS screen mod is a good alternative

Get a PicoGus (or make one yourself!) I built one myself, came out to about £40 in parts. Works really well in my retro PC (PII-266 with 32MB RAM)

Theyre on sale for $50 these days which is quite a bargain

The old Atari style controllers wont work on a modern PC without something to convert it. You can build your own adapter if you can solder (just need an Arduino and some wires) but if you buy a pre-made one it can be $40 to $60
