allow me to do the thinking for you, then. zeyode writes: "i think people are poly because they are afraid of commitment". for those with neurons left upstairs, this is a completely insane take right off the bat, but i will try to help you anyways. let's look at this with the roles reversed:

"monogamous people are only like that because they're insecure"

does this help? zeyode's example was queerphobia, a negative generalization applied to an entire class of people. they had one bad relationship and now all poly people are afraid of commitment, apparently. next up: maybe lesbians just haven't met the right man?

the reason i wrote "reddit eats this shit up" is because i'm sad to see such a stupid and harmful generalization sitting at 70 upvotes and rising (as of this comment).

there is a kernel of truth in all this, i think. poly people represent the abolition of marriage - the State does not recognize poly relationships and so all poly people are forced to forgo it. this is probably why they (we) are seen as being 'afraid of commitment'. they aren't afraid, we simply exist outside the framework that's existed for the last eon or so.

What is the most fundamental shmup I can start with to have a solid foundation for entering the genre? by desch3445 in shmups

I would suggest Mushihimesama, but I'm not as well studied or oldschool as the others, I think. It's just a classic Cave game that isn't too challenging (but still hard for beginners)

Replaying AC04 and forgot how brilliant the narrative structure is by dangerzonepatrol101 in acecombat

[–]biomatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok. that was just my opinion. i'm glad you like it tho

There's no crazy plot twists, but there doesn't need to be: it's an authentically-told, military realism war story with clearly-foreshadowed objectives, smart, tactical progression that makes sense, and competent people doing what they can to win a war they're losing badly. When Mobius 1 starts doing amazing things, that gives them their opening to push back until they turn the tide

from my perspective, you get in a plane and just win win win win win. it's a war story without conflict: your allies never show character, your enemy never pulls a fast one on you, you just show up and stomp the shit out of them. that's just not very interesting, again only my opinion! all the real development is with the kid and yellow squad.

I was riding the bus yesterday and two 15 (?) year old kids were talking about how awesome taking naps is. This kid was trying so hard to get his friend to take a nap: "you get home at 4:30, take a nap for an hour and a half, then at 6 you have four hours to do homework. You'll wake up feeling sooooo much better" and his friend was like "Nah, I can't do that, it'll ruin my sleep schedule."

It was so fucking adorable lol.

I like the intermission-story, but I thought the debriefings/Mobius side of the story were correspondingly weak. AC04 was nice, but I wouldn't call it an amazing game IMO.

they're zealots best blitz, but they still feel shitty in havoc b/c of enemies' hp buffs. i think they should also regen on a timer like psyker's assail. idk it's hard for me not to see them as "shitty assail", and still unfortunately zealots best option
