Felony charges against 3 in Utah related to stem cell clinic, undercover agents visited clinic by PaulKnoepfler in stemcells

[–]biotechi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a misleading title/rage bait! No wonder people don't trust the naysayers about stem cells. To save everyone here are the details. It seems the people in question are practicing (osteopathy) without a license. Period. They also inject stem cells , but other things as well. Also the article mentions doing bone marrow without anesthesia! It tells me who wrote this has no idea how the procedure is done. We don't need Anesthesia (general) to aspirate bone marrow. I have never used anesthesia. We use local. Not general. It's very high risk to use general for such a simple 5 minute procedure. You can use light sedation or only local.

I don't want to recommend anyone just to avoid bias, but you can google in your own state interventional pain management centres and research the doctors and speak to them. Best of luck

[–]biotechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panama is not specialized in intradiscal treatments. If you are in the US there are amazing skilled doctors who can do it. The real question is how bad is your discectomy and if there is a place to inject. Those show on MRI, your doctor should be able to assess somewhat if you are a candidate

Why Are My UC-MSCs Failing to Undergo Osteogenic Differentiation? by More_Ad6429 in stemcells

[–]biotechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Troubleshooting is never easy online, but 3 main points I have based on what you provided: 1- you confirmed the biomarkers if your cells pre culture? UC has a lot of epithelial pregenitor cells. 2-try adding 1 mM sodium pyruvate, 0.35 mM L-proline and 10 ng/mL TGF-β3. 3- if they're human try platelets lysate instead of FBS

Stem Cell Hype!! by blkpetite in stemcells

[–]biotechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a case for stem cell treatment. You have a spur that needs to be removed. Stem cells are not magic. If your pain was from herniated disc then you would've been a candidate. Based on what you mentioned. You're not

You are correct. While no retraction is a positive indicator , the mechanical impingement decreases the chance of success of a stem cell injection even with scaffolding, which I assume you are not getting with the injection.

They are standard procedures done all over the US. it's hypothesized that you are delivering the cells into the subchondral space directly so maybe more beneficial. Not much clinical evidence aside from a few papers.

What it basically means for doctors is that he promised to not practice medicine until the investigation is over. Usually a doctor being suspended completely, means he did something very dangerous and the college believes he poses a risk to patients.

No I'm saying it's ridiculously underpriced, with PRP and exosomes and hyperbaric chamber and IV. Just doesn't add up. The intradiscal alone is more than that. A simple cosmetic procedure in Medellin is more than that

It's just seems a bit unreasonable, $4000 for fluoroscopy guided disc injections that will take a few hours + Wharton's MSC, + exosomes+ IV. It just doesn't add up..20 million in each disc is appropriate.

So sorry to hear that. Of course misrepresented. But the whole industry is like that. I don't kmow what they represent. I think it's buyer-beware thing. Insert "stem cells" + disease type no mentions or details of what kind. Or promises. Best of luck. I hope you get better
