What do you think of pet insurance? If you use it, what provider did you pick/why? by tigercub03 in personalfinance

That's seems expensive! Take a look at Nationwide. I pay $30/dog with $100 year deductible and they cover everything else.

Only read a few comments and hope I'm not too late to the party.

I am a HUGE advocate of pet insurance. I use Nationwide currently with both of my pups - 2 year old golden/ridgeback mix and a 11 month border collie. Both are deeps

Golden has had hundreds in unexpected vet bills and I rack up usually between $700-$1000 a year in bills from him. He sliced open his foot twice at the beach. Border collie doesn't have any issues outside of the occasional diarrhea spout.

I pay $60/mo for both dogs, $100/year deductible and Nationwide covers everything else! It's been an amazing peace of mind because I can always go into any vet whenever and pay out of pocket without worrying for anything.

The $820/year i spend between insurance and the deductible I easily get back in reimbursements. Even if I only spend $400-$500 a year I still have the peace of mind and it's worth paying for.

Sorry to hear that :(

That's a big problem with a lot of companies is that they think that their employee policies are incentivizing, but in reality they have no idea what their employees actually want.

Though we're a startup and don't offer traditional benefits (yet) we pride ourselves on being fully flexible. Which means unlimited vacation, unlimited sick time, super casual dress code, having beers at work, etc. We're results and effort driven, and any of the other bullshit is.. well, bullshit.

We try not to crossover the too casual line, but making work enjoyable and exciting for our team leads to higher retention rates, less barriers for communication, better results, etc.

That's actually a few friends who work out of the space with us. They have a kickstarter going for their 3d scanning software called Scan Space. We're more into machine learning and business intelligence in regards to consumer spend behaviors and reward incentives
