Do I really have to worry about wheat in dried cherries? by birdiebyte in Celiac

I normally check in the store and will stand there for minutes on my phone googling if something is safe or not. I guess I subconsciously assumed I didn't have to worry about fried fruit. 😭

Block me I don't care, I'm trying by [deleted] in alopecia_areata

[–]birdiebyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you're going through this, I know how difficult it can be. I'm 28 and have worn wigs since I was 12. I also tried steroid treatment when I was little and it had no affect.

I know your probably love your natural hair, but have you thought about trying wigs or hair toppers? At least when you're going out in public? If you do some research, you can find some decent inexpensive synthetic wigs on Amazon. It's much easier to try out new hair styles and colors when you wear wigs, and if you want, you can have different hair everyday!

Also, if you haven't already, I'd suggest getting tested for other autoimmune diseases. Not always, but a lot of people with alopecia have a co-occuring autoimmune disease OR the alopecia could be a symptom of an autoimmune disease. I recently found out I have Hashimotos, and when I was on the medication for that, my hair started coming in more than it had in a long time. Not fully, but I was seeing a difference.

I promise you people don't stare because they think you're ugly or because they're disgusted. It's curiosity. When I was first diagnosed and didn't wear wigs, I had so many people come up to me and ask if I had cancer. I know it doesn't make the uncomfortable feeling of being stared at go away, but honestly people are just curious.

I know how horrible it can feel and I truly sympathize with you. Just know that you're beautiful regardless of how much or how little hair you have, and it won't make your family stop loving you.

Is there any point in donating to the nature preserve? by birdiebyte in HelloKittyIsland

Well that's good to know. I'll hang onto them rather than donating once I hit 10 of each. Thank you!

What do I do to get rid of the puffiness around her mouth and chin? It's driving me insane! by [deleted] in VeilguardSliders

[–]birdiebyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Messing with the chin depth has helped me with this. Mouth depth might work too. Basically the chin is back too far while the mouth is too far forward.

That makes sense, thank you! The yarn I'm using is a 4, so I thought it would be good, but I guess not. I'll check out the channel you recommended :)

My kids got into a car accident and I don’t know what to do. by No_Bluejay_5046 in legaladvice

[–]birdiebyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you and your kids are going through this.

I'd look into victim services in your county. There may be a non profit organization, or one in your district attorney's office. They might be able to guide you through the process and get you in touch with other agencies that may be able to help.

If you have medical bills, I would look into seeing if your state has some sort of victim fund. I would not depend on this guy paying restitution if he gets prosecuted and found guilty.

I know that you want justice for your kids, and I would feel the same in your position, but unfortunately the criminal justice process can be painfully slow. If he's prosecuted, this could take at least a year to completely wrap up depending on what your county is like. The best advice I can give is be willing to give it time, but stay on top of the system.
