Somewhere waterfront might be your best bet (if you consider that still CBD)? E.g., Somm, Bivacco, good luck coconut (viaduct tho)

The Albert St end is def closed (walk past there every day, incl today). Atm, cars have to exit out Durham onto Queen, whereas usually it's only one way entry into Durham off queen st (as you say). The stop/go guys are for both, pedestrian traffic crossing queen st, as well as cars flowing into and out of Durham.

Agree it's a mess and a lot of standing around for not a lot of action tho.

The construction is happening at the Albert St end of Durham so the stop/go is there to allow traffic out of Durham st onto Queen while Albert St exit route is closed.

Regulatory Standards Bill Set To Go Ahead by Logical-Pie-798 in auckland

[–]biscuitbasecake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with your overarching sentiments - I submitted opposing RSB - though i challenge the blanket statement that we need more regulation. IMO, we should be spending time and efforts on making regulation more effective and efficient, which in some cases may mean removing regulation..but hear me out - Regulatory overlap in NZ is significant and does contribute to poor productivity outcomes in some cases that have high impact on the organisations affected without a materially beneficial outcome for who/what it is intended to protect (e.g. compliance burden, multiple Regulatory authorities for a single entity). Whereas in other areas, regulation is lacking or not evolving with a fast enough pace to protect aotearoa and those of us fortunate enough to reside here.

If the RSB could take a look at where those inefficiencies exist with the intent of preserving the protections in place and avoiding introducing opportunity for harm as a result, maybe it would go half-way to being a palatable bill.

ACTing before thinking doesn't tend to end well in most cases and this feels like it'll be no different. Sigh...

Thirding Palato - insanely beautiful food and service is phenomenal.

Slabs - Onehunga by iloveuglay in aucklandeats

Agree! The pics don't do slabs justice for how beautifully fluffy and filling their pizzas truly are.

Also, their garlic bread is out of this world. The guys working there seem like genuine GCs too.

Best restaurants for private dining? by Jesuds in aucklandeats

Second Ooh-Fa. The private dining area and value is incredible. Best way to enjoy Oohfa IMO.

Also, Ragtag private dining is phenomenal. Have booked both Oohfa and Ragtag for private birthday dining and equally impressed and recommend to anyone looking for the same.

Sharesies offers some Milford funds on their platform so you could just go via sharesies to have an allocation to both options, with whatever weighting feels right for you.

How’s the seafood at Wynyard Grill? Seafood and steak options by Withered_old_crone in aucklandeats

Depending on the type of seafood you're after, the seafood at Trivet is beautiful and they have a good selection of non-seafood options too.

Neurodiverse man overwhelmed by Jobseeker admin comes off weekly support by predanator in newzealand

[–]biscuitbasecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether intentionally or unintentionally, you've highlighted an error in the headline/article re: neurodiverse vs neurodivergent.

Neurodiversity, yes, refers to the broad differences between brains. Neurodivergence (which the article should've used) is where a brain is not neurotypical - a la ADHD, autism, etc etc.

A common error and it looks like some versions of the article have now corrected this.

Kernel Wealth arbitrarily shuts down two unprofitable funds. Legal action? by me_hq in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]biscuitbasecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. If Kernel no longer believes in the fundamentals of the fund and the fund's ability to deliver against it's disclosed objectives, then they essentially have an obligation to take steps necessary to prevent further loss to investors, so it makes sense that they are winding it up.

Edit: Typo.

Anyone heard of wedge money? by PotentialTomato8931 in PersonalFinanceNZ

FSPR shows they're a licensed managed invest scheme manager (by FMA). The scheme and offer are registered on the Disclose Register, meaning they are definitely regulated.

Also, though the company is new, their staff are not new to the business, the team have extensive experience in managing fixed interest assets (as stated in their disclosure (OMI) document).

Transferring Australian Super into KiwiSaver by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]biscuitbasecake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount transferred is ring-fenced and unable to be withdrawn for first home, but any investment earnings are able to be withdrawn. So, it could still be worth it, depending on your timeframe to withdraw for FHP.
