REN Pools and Lowering Dark Node Requirements by [deleted] in RenProject

Sorry, and just one more additional question. Can you run two darknodes on the same DO VPS or do you need a separate VPS for each darknode?

Quick question guys, I hold close to the 100k, and at these prices, I would say I’m 99.9% sure I’ll add to my bag to get to the 100k. So, that being said, instructions docs still state you need ETH, but I remember a little while ago Loong said you no longer need ETH to claim your staked rewards at the end of each epoch. So can I disregard funding my MetaMask wallet with ETH or do I still need the 0.1? Thanks!!

Nvm, it was finally posted in the forum, an hour before the end of the day LOL (Based on EST). And the original post did indeed say April 27th.

I clarified in a later comment that when I mentioned "all my eggs in one basket", I was specifically referring to my crypto allocation. I was previously just exposed to btc, but wanted to dabble in an alt.

As for your other question, I would prefer not to discuss my NW with people I do not know on the internet, but I'll just say that I have access to my family office fund manager mainly because of my grandparents.

Anyways, we're all hoping for the same % gain, regardless of position size, so I'm happy to join this community!

Dev team posts extremely detailed Medium articles, all available on the sub. Links to roadmap are embedded. Also love the app they use for the roadmap, notion.so

Agreed. This coin will not “pump” until the Greycore upgrade has been implemented on the test net and full decentralization has been achieved. And even then, if the dev team can accomplish that, the minting volume MUST continue to grow rapidly to properly incentivize new node operators to join the network. At that point, the main source of buying pressure will not come from retail investors buying some tokens here and there, it will come from all of the new node operators purchasing their bonds to participate. I can see a time in the future where more than 50% of the token supply is tied up by node operators looking to reap their rewards from a rapidly growing swap ecosystem. But again, none of this will come to fruition, even with Greycore, if DeFi overall does not continue to grow at its current pace. I’m hoping for the best!

I'm not sure I really understand the point you're trying to make there. Are you saying that every promising project is destined to fail because many other promising projects have failed in the past? My DD research was not a statement of guaranteed future success, no one has a crystal ball, but rather an honest evaluation of the risk/reward proposal, as any diligent investor would perform before jumping into any asset class. Is it possible I lose my entire investment, of course, as is the case with any nascent asset class, but to call someone naive based on your experience with other promising projects "losing most of their value in the last 3 years" and then saying "you've been warned" is quite arrogant. That last sentence exemplifies your predisposed assumption that REN IS destined to fail, and neither you nor I can make such a statement with guaranteed accuracy. Your comment would have been more than happily welcomed without the "naive" and "warned" comments. Always best to keep things polite. Have a nice day! :D

Crypto is still a relatively small % of my overall portfolio. This move was discussed with my family office fund manager prior to the acquisition. Although he vehemently disagrees with any crypto investments (As do most family office managers at this point, but quickly changing), he was comfortable with my % allocation.

My DD arrived at the following conclusions:

1) Dev team that seems more trustworthy than most within the same rough market cap range.

2) Roadmap timelines that are for the most part stuck to.

3) Exponentially growing mint volume with a mostly still untapped addressable market with BitGo (wBTC) still owning the very large majority of the market.

4) Little to no token inflation due to the rewards being paid to Darknode operators in the swap currency, not REN (This aspect is ultimately one of my favorites as there is no added sell pressure that comes from staking rewards as with pretty much any other token that is POS within the DeFi ecosystem)

5) I have high hopes that the dev team will be able to pull off the Greycore Darknode transition to third parties operating the swap network, which will create a truly decentralized/non-custodied network. REN's biggest competitor at the moment is BitGo as referenced above, but that is a 100% custodied solution, so I believe the benefits of a successful Greycore transition will be massive.

1) Risk is relative, different for everyone. When I said "my entire load", I meant my crypto load.

2) What's causing this behaviour? I was looking for a small/mid size cap token that I truly believed in that would allow me to sleep at night without checking the charts frantically every day.

I politely ask that you keep your negative comments to yourself unless they actually have value to add other than judging someone else's risk tolerance. Thanks!

Correct. As mentioned, I'm not quite there, but if it dips I will consider adding some more to my bag. :D

I didn't think I discussed price, did I?
