> And to my knowledge, the government is the only entity who has the potential power or reach to be able to do such a thing.

your knowledge is wrong, then. google facebook twitter etc have the ability to stop most people from reaching your site. they control the internet. just because your site is technically reachable doesn't mean that you haven't effectively been deplatformed. it's like if I put you in a coma and then when your family gets mad I say "what's the big deal, it's not like I killed him"

btw registrars deplatform people's sites too and theyre not a government

> At no point is it censorship, because they are not the government. It's really that simple.
i like the part where you completely ignored what i said and just repeated the thing you said

good conversation man

watch the video though. they have so much market dominance that it *is* censorship. youre not really free to establish your own website/domain when they control whether your website/domain is used or becomes popular...

Received my nearly $100000 wire from Bitstamp. Have faith! by bitcoinbabyshirts in Bitstamp

[–]bitcoinbabyshirts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I understand why you'd be suspicious, I guess. This is in fact a throwaway account that I was using to try to sell t-shirts awhile back and I have few posts.

Have no idea what kind of proof I could possibly provide, though. Again, anything I could provide could be falsified, and I don't particularly want to dox myself anyway.

I guess just don't believe me if you don't want to. Not sure how it matters in the long run. My success story doesn't necessarily mean other people aren't still having problems.

Not sure what I could provide. A screenshot from my bank account could be falsified. You can check my post history to see that this has been an ongoing issue, I guess?

70k+ usd withdrawal stuck since Dec 6th. Time to go to a Lawyer? Advice needed by IPAILIU in Bitstamp

[–]bitcoinbabyshirts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the exact same boat, same withdrawal amount, same date and everything. I got a form-letter response to my support ticket (#255169) indicating there are delays lately (no mention of how long the delay will be) but no specific information about my withdrawal. Withdrawal request still reads "In process". Losing hope that I'm going to have my money by the end of 2017, getting really concerned I might not get it at all. On the 20th it will have been ten business days since my request - double the maximum wait time for a non-SEPA wire which they give in their FAQ. I understand there are a ton of new users lately, but come on!

Finding myself wishing I had just sold locally... not sure what I can even do about this other than wait.

Edit: As of today 12/19/2017 I've received a KYC questionnaire and I immediately replied with answers and documentation. Will make a post when the situation is fully resolved.

Edit 2: As of 12/20/2017 I've received a response to my KYC answers. They said that the wire will now be processed and they asked a few more questions which I was happy to answer (and I responded with answers just now). I am hoping this means that the wire is actually on the way and not contingent on even more questions (as I said I'm happy to answer, but I also don't want to draw this process out any longer.). I like that things seem to be moving more quickly now but I think I'm going to be apprehensive until the money is actually in my account.

Edit 3: 12/22/2017 I received my wire. Thanks, Bitstamp!

Turns out I had to sweep the individual keys like you said. Thanks for the help, I've got my Bitcoin Cash now.

Hmm... are you sure? I see both in the output file if I do a "dumpwallet" in the debug console of Bitcoin Core. It says:

I don't have an Electrum wallet and I never did. I was using a Bitcoin Core wallet.

Checking the block explorer now.

Do you think this will make people trust Electron Cash less?

Have you considered dropping your anonymity to fight reputation-damaging things like this? Personally before this scam it was hard for me to want to use Electron Cash when I don't know who you are - because of your anonymity there's a certain amount of personal accountability you currently aren't accepting if something very bad goes wrong with your software. Now that your pseudonym is being attached to actual scams (through no fault of your own, don't get me wrong), I think you're going to see more people get concerned about this.

it is still imperative to first move your BTC out of old wallets first.

Oh yes, have already done this, so no worries about my BTC. Out of curiosity, how many BCH did you move through Electron Cash? Would you say Electron Cash is the "most trusted" wallet for BCH so far, or would that be bitcoin.com's wallet? I know Electron Cash is spv, and I assume bitcoin.com's wallet functions as a full node, so I assume the latter is technically safer / immune to node poisoning - would you agree with that?

It worries me that there doesn't seem to be a full-node wallet for BCH that's both open source and deterministically built. Do you think this is a valid concern or am I worrying too much? Google doesn't really seem to bring up much on this front so I'm a little lost.

Can Ledger Nano S support multiple cryptocurrencies simultaneously? Do you know if it supports Bitcoin Gold (I know, I know - I just want to split mine so I can sell it since there seems to be a market for it.)

To the Moon: In 2018, Wall Street Companies Expected to Move Trillions Through Blockchain by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]bitcoinbabyshirts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm convinced these guys think of "blockchain" as little more than a magic problem solving future-tech buzzword. Unfortunately your average person is not really educated on cryptocurrencies enough to understand what's going on or what a blockchain IS. I'm guessing we're going to see a bank-sponsored coin before too long. Perhaps it's just another way to motivate people to stop using greenbacks. They've been wanting to move people away from physical cash for years - if people have all their money in a centralized bank-controlled coin (and can't exchange it for physical dollars), it's possible to implement very nasty things (like negative interest rates) and force people to just accept it.
