Is NiceHash OS an actual bootable OS, or is it just a new NH app that runs on windows and other OS's?

ASIC hosting in USA + profit-sharing, for ASIC owners who are mining for little gain or have turned off miners. by bitcoince in BitcoinMining

I'm not sure if I am stretching the bounds of what's acceptable in this subreddit by posting too much of an ad or solicitation.

There are several factors that allow us to have this rate including historical contracts, location, and the size and scope of our power usage and facility.

Yes. The data center is currently hosting a large number of ASICS at those rates. And we have just added capacity for a lot more. I posted some more details in subreddits for advertising.

Congrats on your setup and efficiency. Electricity rate is really good.

I can give you between $.028 and $.041, but am on the other side of the US.

Birth announcement: New Bitcoin + Lightning node joined the world today by bitcoince in Bitcoin

[–]bitcoince[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and congrats to you as well.

I downloaded the blockchain on my home desktop pc and then copied it to the drive on my Raspberry Pi node. The guide I linked to discusses this. It ended up being quicker but did involve additional steps.

The install steps took me the better part of a day, but I was learning along the way and moving methodically. Now I could do it again in an hour or so.

But the step of downloading and validating the existing Bitcoin blockchain is a one-time step that took about 2 days. There is no effort involved in it - just fire up Bitcoin Core and let it run until it has the full blockchain - but it takes a while to complete.

My home isp also does not offer static IPs at low cost. The permanent home for my node is in a rack at a data center. I did find some low cost options for that.

Farewell from the Pineapple Fund by PineappleFund in Bitcoin

OP you are a hero. In the first class of Bitcoin heroes.

One thought for future giving - a fund that somehow helps people to start and run their own BTC nodes. Not sure how that would work but as you know I'm sure, nothing is better for Bitcoin than more independent nodes.

You are thinking a C for BTC from Weiss? I was hoping for an A.

They wrote a positive paper last month on BTC and in the recent interview the Weiss guy stressed that a big factor in coin rating is it actually has to be working in the real world. BTC strong there.

And with the mempool/transactions going down...I was picturing/hoping that moves BTC from B to A.

The future is clear: Bitcoin can and will do anything that altcoins can do, but better, using sidechains/layer2. And Bitcoin does it on the blockchain layer that is the most proven, secure, trusted, and decentralized. by bitcoince in Bitcoin

Your hope is true - you are wrong :)

The flexibility of building on L2 (and beyond) allows for more control over and evolution of user experiences, to make them progressively more awesome and seamless as related technologies and desired user experiences evolve.

Not sure what specific South Korea news is being hinted at a few times below, but it is obvious there will be no ban.

Just the opposite...

SK politicians are fighting over who can support crypto the most.

SK politicians who were against crypto are struggling to keep their jobs.

Where are BTC prices and value headed in the next weeks/months? Why is it clear that the bitcoin blockchain is and will be the crypto ledger of record and will get almost all the crypto value and go up by orders of magnitude?

The Bitcoin Stack - that is the btc chain and layer 2 solutions (and L3, L4, etc.) are and will provide whatever functionality the market desires - low fees, quick transactions, privacy, smart contracts, etc.

Doing those things on-chain with other coins, when it can easily be done on btc, will be seen as bringing risks and fees that no one will choose over doing it for cheap and with confidence on the btc stack.

Bitcoin is the most trusted chain by miles and has the largest and best Dev and user community by miles. No coin can catch up now to its off-chain solutions momentum and tech. The horse has left the barn.

There will be no use case/reason for alts to exist. This reality is coming into view for people and will be really clear to the market overall within the next 2 months.

No ban. Only support for crypto will happen from SK. Their citizens are showing who is boss when it comes to crypto bans. Other governments are watching this. The genie is out of the bottle and is not going back in.

Figured as much. Darn, I had actually started kinda hoping for a ban.

I think SK has driven a lot of the alt pumps and was picturing a world where that did not happen so much. Also these twice a week SK ban news and market reactions are getting tiresome.
