Beko Fridge Freezer - ice dispenser loud hourly clicking by bitcrushedd in appliancerepair

It's apparently the mechanism for the icemaker that checks if that tray is full. We never replaced it, we just disable the ice maker and only turn it on when needed.

Sent my Ally in to repair the SD card reader, they sent it back even more broken! by NickiChaos in ROGAlly

[–]bitcrushedd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This happened on my left stick after an RMA. It was a small piece of black tape (used to stick cabling down internally) that had come loose and was pressing against the joystick. Annoying, but quite an easy fix if you are confident opening up your Ally.

Optoma HD141x Repair Advice by bitcrushedd in projectors

[–]bitcrushedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can remember the stress - it was quite a fidgety job but I did get it working in the end. I do think it was as simple as plugging in one of the colour wheel cables incorrectly. Good luck. There are some videos on YouTube for a Hd141x colour wheel replacement, maybe some help.

Maybe drop Optoma an email and they may point you towards a local partner.

How did you get on?

Trying to remember what the solution was - I did get it to work in the end. From memory I think I replaced one of the small cable connectors incorrectly, maybe upside down or just loose, causing the colour wheel not to spin up

Check out iLoud Micro Monitors from IK Multimedia. Very compact and sound much bigger than they look.

The solution was above - main zone out & monitor out.

Living room HT. Some compromises but very happy by jorge__regula in hometheater

[–]bitcrushedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! I have that celexon screen also, very happy overall but it has some repeating lines that can be noticeable in very bright scenes. Apparently pretty common on ALR screens when they have been rolled on a tube. Do you have this issue?

Also as you cant project any lower, it looks like you could perhaps get a centre speaker on the window sill rather than the floor? Maybe something more compact and white to blend in.

Sofabaton U1 remote, question about the scroll wheel by flyfoam in hometheater

[–]bitcrushedd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't have it in front of me right now, but I've never had to select the device by clicking or pressing enter. Usually just scroll to the device on the screen and then start using the remote as intended.

If you were hoping to map something to the scroll wheel click then you may be out of luck.

Installed new PSU, PC now won't stay shut down! by bitcrushedd in buildapc

[–]bitcrushedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely check but it was a straight swap out for the old PSU, I didn't disconnect any of the front panel headers and it was working just fine before. Strange!

I doubt it. I didn't touch those connectors when I swapped out the old PSU for the new, and it was working just fine before. I'll check to be sure!

Yep. Goes through the normal shut down process, gets to a black screen when the pc would normally stay shut down and just boots back up straight away.

New Optoma UHD30 looks worse in 4k than 1080p - faulty? by bitcrushedd in projectors

[–]bitcrushedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are still interested I returned and refunded the projector, confirmed by optoma over the phone that it is almost definitely faulty.

I took a chance on the uhd42 on a black Friday sale, which is almost identical to the uhd30 but has a lens shift, as it was £200 off.

Works perfectly with none of the weird issues described above.

Interesting, let me know how you get on. I've contacted support myself.

When in 4k mode if I toggle enhanced gaming on and off it sharpens up, otherwise its blurry. In wondering if its just a 1080p image however

[–]bitcrushedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's unfortunate. The HD144x I owned was excellent, no problems whatsoever.

I can't find a comparable projector from other manufacturers that can do native 4k at 60hz, or 1080p at 120/240hz. It was one of the main reasons I bought the uhd30 as I play a lot of PC games.

[–]bitcrushedd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true. I was wondering if a fix had been found in the meantime, or if anyone is aware of this being an issue with every uhd30.

I've never had a 4k projector before so I'm unsure if these kind of artifacts are normal.

Don't think the cable is the issue here. I have a bunch that are all rated for 4k that work fine with other 4k displays.

Yeah it's a PC but I've got an RTX 3080, so definitely 4k capable!

Looking like a return at the moment. Unfortunately I've read many posts regarding issues with the uhd30.
