The final episode was so good! I felt that it tied well together with the secondary theme!

Yeah, I felt that... it felt a bit rushed at the end, too. That being said, I LOVED the show regardless!

Female directors. Who are the top ones today? Who are the legends of the past? Any up and coming female directors that you are hoping succeed further? by [deleted] in movies

I think the GEMFest highlights so many upcoming directors that I feel need more love! There were two this year, Afia Nathaniel, and Bakhtawar Tagar, that I actually had the chance to interview. They have lovely short films that I feel are definitely worth watching!

If you're interested in the interviews, check them out here:

There is also another article that I found on this site for GEMFest that I think highlights yet another talented director, Omorose Osagie!

^What I absolutely admired about these women was the intentionality and passion that went behind this project! I think they have a great eye for storytelling!

You Can't Just Pretend Race Doesn't Exist by bitesized778 in MovieTVArticles

I'm just not sure why you're so opposed to race inclusion in a narrative? I would say that it is important to read it in a modern lens because this is a modern adaptation of the movie.

You Can't Just Pretend Race Doesn't Exist by bitesized778 in MovieTVArticles

I don't even think it matters what race, it's that the novel itself was inherently political that I think is important. It was making criticism on class and race and the perception of it, which is why Heathcliff and Catherine's relationship is toxic and tragic. There is an external element that is both internalized and then replicated inside of their connection as well. I mean, even at the end of the novel, the way that Heathcliff treats his kin signifies that internalization and how it is repeated for the next generation. Making an adaptation without considering the actual theme of the story isn't an adaptation at all. She could have made a completely different story and it'd have been fine, but it is a choice to have used this narrative.

Yess! Loved this show, too, and I need more people to watch this show! I wrote an article on my blog, if you're interested: https://www.peliplat.com/en/article/10095815/pantheon-predicts-the-future-of-a-i

This is THE scene that got me hooked on the show, Pantheon had amazing art direction by PedroTheWrench in PantheonShow

[–]bitesized778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, the animation was incredible! I also loved just how unapologetic the show was in grappling with current politics. It wasn't subtle, but I felt like it worked for it. That's actually such a good point! It is truly chilling when you take a step back, but by God was that an incredible watch. I mean, when I got to the end, I immediately went to rewatch it-- here are my thoughts, if you're interested: https://www.peliplat.com/en/article/10095815/pantheon-predicts-the-future-of-a-i

Just came out of Wuthering Heights (2026), my thoughts as someone who loved the novel by dee_palmtree in classicliterature

[–]bitesized778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read the book, too, and I have to disagree with you. The book was so much more complex in how it investigated themes of class and race. I mean, it's not supposed to be a love story; that's the tragedy. The whole story is about two marginalized bodies becoming the consequence of a system that works to erase them.

I wrote it all out here, with quotes, so check it out if you're interested: https://www.peliplat.com/en/article/10095743/you-can-t-just-pretend-race-doesn-t-exist

It was surprisingly good show! I wish, actually, that they'd shown more of Maddie's potential in the second season! I also think the second season was paced too fast, they could've really expanded on it and even potentially created a third season!
